I do start to wonder if these sculptors even watch the source material.
Still don’t think it can top these classics.

I still can't believe there are no review videos yet, even worst Hot Toys figures gets their review video in less than 24 hours after their release.

I gotta cancel my preorder on this one. To my eyes, the cowl sculpt is an improvement. But the suit looks even worse than it did before. Just a lumpy mess with a texture like oatmeal. With so many figures coming from left and right, I have to be more judicious.

I think it comes down to the time of day it gets 'released'. Sometimes, and in the case with this release, the blogger photos go up the evening before anyone can actually go to the shop and pick up their figure.

Beat me to it. I hate linking to these guys because they're the in-house videos Toys Wonderland started doing on their own after Justin dropped them for being a scam campany, and don't want to send any business their way. But Sideshow's fallen way behind on their First Look videos at this point.

Still unclear if this thing has ratcheted joints.

I'm also very curious if anyone can manage to pose that wired cape in a draped, uncurled style.

If only there was a safer way to to a body swap as I just want the inside body and the boots. Part out everything else.

Cool video - thanks for sharing it.

First thought for me? - the diorama piece is stunning and alone is worth the price of admission.
Excellent piece with tonnes of presence and character, gonna be the centre of my '89 display for sure.
On a more general note it does make me REALLY wish HT started offering the dioramas for their figures separately as well as with the deluxe figure [deluxe can be cheaper than buying both separately].

Definately an improvement over the DX09:
- proportions and dimensions of the body look better
- the head sculpt is definately better, face plates [except for buck-tooth] look good
- the in-stock cape is better [meaning both appear to be bad but the new one is a LOT less bad]

IMO not much difference in the body-suits "bumbiness"/texture - the DX09 does seem a little more smooth but not by much in this lighting, which indicates to me that overharsh lighting is what is making this figure appear so insanely over-textured.
Its overtextured for sure, but maybe not to the degree we have seen in the photos considering in this harsh lighting the DX09, which seems a lot smoother in natural light pics, is only slightly smoother when posed alongside the new figure.

How difficult would it be to replace the body inside DX09?

I'm torn between just keeping DX09 and making some updates, or picking up 2.0, and somehow bashing them both into one ultimate 89 Bats.

I don't wish to start any arguments but genuinely surprised people don't see Keaton in the sculpt.

The overdone texture probably won't bother me when viewing it on the shelf from a couple of metres back. Doesn't excuse them getting that wrong but I can live with it.

Can't decide if the cape is okay or whether to order a Jaxon one now.

I can see the Keaton in some images - especially from those taken at low angles - but it gets lost for me in most of the head-on images. I'm thinking maybe there's too much distance between the nose and the lips, and that distinct shape to Keaton's lips in the top center is downplayed just enough in this sculpt (or the paintwork) that I think I'm looking at Kilmer instead.

If its anything like the older figures then I am going to say functionally impossible unless you REALLY KNOW what you're doing, have all the right tools and a very healthy dose of luck.
And also if you dont mind the suit having a large scar on the back and never being quite as form-fitting again given how rubber-like materials lose some strength and shape when the tensile force is changed from being cut.
Removing it without cutting it is truly impossible unless HT finally got smart and added an access hatch/zipper or something else.
The body on the old figure and the Returns Batman is basically mummified in rubber-like material and can't escape like a gimp who forgot the safe word and lost the key. :ROFLMAO:

I was contemplating that as well and I think it might be worth the patience to wait and see what this is like, especially if it saves money.
On the other hand there is nothing harmful about have a drape cape to go with this pose cape.

Is it possible to swap the cowl and cape onto the old body and suit? Do they plug in the same?

Yeah wondering how good the cape can be futz to have a natural drape look, most of the pics it looks like no one has really tried hard. Cape looks great when positioned to have the flowing movement look though.
