Maaan, I don’t know how to feel about this. Genuinely. On the one hand, I’m almost in reverse sticker shock. $330 for two rooted heads, a bunch of fun accessories, moveable eyes, and an elaborate diorama base? On the other hand, something’s off and I don’t know what. Because, like, I don’t not see Keaton in there, but when I say “off,” I mean, like, actually off…It’s giving that weird uncanny valley quality that certain Hot Toys sculpts evoke, but in an almost unsettling way. I love Beetlejuice. I loved the new movie, as well, but I say this with the utmost candor: I don’t know if I’d want to look at that ******* thing on my shelf every day. It doesn’t give me that joy and nostalgia I want it to, it gives me the heebie jeebies. 
On the flip side, I pre-ordered the Sideshow Beetlejuice in a heartbeat and I don’t really regret it because that Yixie sculpt is absurdly good. Like, to the point where even if Sideshow Sideshowed it up, so long as the integrity of the sculpt was preserved, I feel like it’d almost be worth sending to be repainted and rehaired for such an iconic character…At the same time, though, $280 for some hands, a basic base, and two accessories from SIDESHOW seems like highway robbery compared to everything $330 gets you here.
I don’t know. Part of me thinks it’s the expression that’s throwing this version all out of whack. Kind of has me hoping they make his other tuxedo version, too, with a more neutral sculpt. I feel like that’d be the smart play, if I’m being honest. Sell people on both. Black and white for the accessories and red tux for the sculpt.
