Re: 【Avengers: Infinity War -1/6th scale Doctor Strange Collectible Figure】

So this one or the first one? I have V1 but thinking of selling it and grabbing this one since he was so much cooler in IW ha

Given how much the first one goes for and how similar the two are I don’t see why most would choose the first if they didn’t have either but wanted to get one.

Re: 【Avengers: Infinity War -1/6th scale Doctor Strange Collectible Figure】

After watching IW last night and then my second viewing of EG this morning, I put in an order for Dr. Strange. I really don’t want to have a ton of Marvel invading my shelves but these IW/EG figures are getting hard to resist with the culmination of all the movies with End Game. Had the first Strange, so looking forward to seeing how the head sculpt on this one adds up, as well as the accessories.

So finally got around to unboxing 2.0! The headsculpt is stellar AF! Please excuse the white protection tape around his neck since I didn't remove it.

Enjoy the cellphone quality shots below!

I also took 1.0 out of storage to do some comparison shots and Strange-selfies. :lol

Also I noticed that on my 1.0 his collar is popped open, whereas on 2.0 his collar is sewed pretty tight up top...perhaps the 1.0 stitching opened up? Can anyone else who owns 1.0 confirm if their top collar is open or not...or did mine just rip open?

Finally I think both capes from 1.0 and 2.0 have their pros and cons. In my opinion, I don't think there's a cape that is the better of the two...they kinda have their pluses and minuses. :dunno

1.0
Pro
- The 1.0 cape has a solid wire on the bottom, which helps tremendously with posing.

Con
- The neck piece is very tight and the golden parts on the collar are very sharp and if you're not careful you can def damage Strange's neck by scraping it when putting it on.
- Also I find the cape to be a little too thick, especially the collar piece. You can fold it but it's still too much material.

2.0
Pro
- The material is thinner, especially the collar, which looks more natural.
- Since the collar is much thinner and since the cape attaches via magnets there is no fear of damaging the neck if you're not careful while attaching it.

Con
- The 2.0 lacks the aforementioned wire, so can't get any real dynamic cape shots.
- The hard-plastic, shoulder pad area of the cape is nice, but it gets in the way of posing the left arm...therefore kind of hindering the articulation, since posing the left arm can cause the cape to easily separate and fall off from the magnet attachment.

Re: 【Avengers: Infinity War -1/6th scale Doctor Strange Collectible Figure】

Nice pics, but do you really... never remove the tape from the neck?? I know people are paranoid about staining, but that still seems like kind of an overreaction to me (and frankly even more unsightly than a few small stains would be).

Haha well I leave the tape on because I have NONE of my HTs on display. They're ALL in storage. Yup...I'm that kind of collector. :slap :rotfl

I'm not a fan of detolfs or Ikea displays in general. Eventually I intend on doing a dope, custom, super-expensive display...not sure when, but one day... :impatient:

After 3 yrs of my last HotToys purchase...I’m in again. Love how those figure looks!

Re: 【Avengers: Infinity War -1/6th scale Doctor Strange Collectible Figure】

I have the 2.0 coming, but I have to admit I like the 1.0 headsculpt substantially more.

I'm not going to pay a collector's price for it at this point,. But if both were available in the after market, long after the second is out of production, I'd opt for the first in a heartbeat.

Viewed frontally, I thought these were looked more similar than they do with the hair being the main difference.
In every one of gmoney5000's pics, the original sculpt looks like the stronger likeness to me.

Oh well. Close enough to satisfy the itch for the time being, I suppose.

Re: 【Avengers: Infinity War -1/6th scale Doctor Strange Collectible Figure】

Seems like most people feel that in-hand the v2 has the better likeness though.

I have both and I kinda like the likeness on the second one better too. That being said, I haven't seen the stock 1.0 sculpt in person in quite some time (mine has been customized) and my photo skills have improved/changed too. I wish I had photos with more similar lighting, but this is the best I got.

It's funny you say that because even though I like the 2.0 sculpt better (I think I just like the hairstyle more), the 1.0 has better Benedict likeness in-person (not so sure if it's as noticeable in photos). That's not to say the 2.0 isn't excellent, but I def. see more of Benedict in 1.0 than 2.0...but both are still awesome!

Re: 【Avengers: Infinity War -1/6th scale Doctor Strange Collectible Figure】

I wouldn't mind seeing a Wong (I could probably be convinced to buy him), but I want a Mordo so much more. Maybe for Strange 2.

Yes please to a Mordo - plus it would help make his Operative character from Serenity!!!

Re: 【Avengers: Infinity War -1/6th scale Doctor Strange Collectible Figure】

I feel like 1.0's head is slightly too thin and the 2.0 is slightly too wide. The 2.0's head looks to be too wide for Cumberbatch. It's so weird for HT to redesign a head right after another release like this instead of retread the same head for 2-3 releases like they usually do.

Anyway I'm getting the 2.0 because it's available but also for all the accessories. I use them a lot and switch up my display and am looking forward to it.

Also did you guys see the 2nd multi-arm thing went up for preorder? They all have the mandala's too, I didn't compare them shot to shot, but description also says posable arms/hands, so they seem pretty similar. The second one is a few bucks cheaper too.

Interesting, I never noticed the original had the wrong eye colour before.

I have both and yeah 1.0’s collar is open at the very top. I prefer the way 2.0’s collar is sewn.

Really like both figures. Each was and is a homerun.

IEWQ2I7h.jpg

It doesn't have the wrong eye color. It just appears that way in that photo because of how the lighting was used.

Edit: And to cast my vote on the two sculpts debate, I can say that I prefer having both. I am glad HT gave us two head sculpt versions of Dr. Strange, both with a very unique look that draws his mystical presence out.
Besides, the V2 sculpt is a lot closer to his original comic book appearance... now if only we could get those yellow gloves as well somehow.

Re: 【Avengers: Infinity War -1/6th scale Doctor Strange Collectible Figure】

I am one of those defenders of the V1 HS. I prefer it over the V2 headsculpt. And as I always say, each of us have a preference, a favourite look, and not everyone will agree. Don't get me wrong, the V2 is spectacular too.

Well, finally, I have finished this little personal project which I started over a month ago and, after having being sharing the process with all of you (thanks for all your kind support and nice feedback, that encorages me to keep on working on this beautiful hobby!) :yess:

Sorry for the lighting and everything. Unfortunately my photographing skills are not developed and I try to do my best. Thinking about buying a decent camera to take better photos.

1st one, a general overview with a brighter light:

I am thinking about expanding the base diorama a little bit to match the background's width. But that will be for latter. I am really happy with the final result. I hope you enjoyed the pics. It is my first time sharing publically one of my projects and it has been really encouraging and enriching. Thanks a lot again :lol
