If you have the Thor la DW or mk43 1/6 you can see why it would be best to use it. The 1/4 has stuffer joints I'm told but not by much.

I think what "ruins" it, (which I'm guessing you/he mean the realism) is that it's 18 inches tall, doesn't ever move on its own, sits in some persons house, and comes in a box. Lol it's never going to be 100% real. Sorry bud. It is in fact a figure. Only so much can be done to hide that.

Yeah that base is all bumps and slants. I'm pretty sure that I will have my figure standing in front of it instead of on top of it.

I don't use a stand for my HT QS Batman and he is very sturdy. When I had Boba Fett I posed him without a stand as well. I expect Iron Man to be at least as stable as those two and Iron Man should have bigger feet with flat bottoms.

Good call. With my 1/6 43 I finally settled on having the figure stand on the flat area of the base without the rod and clamp ... was driving me crazy being restricted by the rocks on the left side of it.

Has stood very well on its own without support. I expect the 1/4 version to do so even better.

Well I'm a statue collector, and if I get this it would be my first Hot Toy. I haven't gotten any because, well, I don't like how they look like "toys". If I can't display him along with my other pieces, and he requires a visible rod to display, then I don't want him.

He should not require a rod to stand without the base. If you can find two flat spots on the base then he should be able to stand without the rod.

Pose him properly and he won't look like a toy.

I'm hoping I can do that. The face sculpt looks incredible, and the paint app looks way cleaner than Sideshow's Mark 42, which is why I'm drawn to it. My avengers display is missing an Iron Man, and I'm hoping this could fill the slot.

And statues look so much different? I'm also a statue collector. The hot toys figures are much more lifelike for the most part.

There are hundreds of photos...thousands in fact, on this site of figures that require no stand. You will have some poses that do require it.

And saying they look like toys is silly. Statues look like...statues. Toys that can't move. They don't actually look real.

Just to illustrate...very very few statues look as good as most hot toys. The premium formats and higher end stuff is abouT it. Or customs. And even those are fixed, so you lose a huge amount of "realism" in that alone. These few photos I grabbed real quick to show. These are toys so that will never disappear...but statues are not any more realistic most the time. In fact they are less usually. Sculpted and cast clothing for example. These photos show that these look as real as any statue(more or less). And I love statues as well.

The pics are in a spoiler tag so folks can skip if they want..

haha "I prefer the new forearm rocket as it's screen accurate...and I'll also be turning on all these blue lights that were never in the film" - no one in particular

Its been well established that the suits are glow blue on the inside when they are open, why not include that option?

Yeah the more options the better as far as I'm concerned, just like the extra arm missiles. It was aimed at people who want the screen accurate arm missles because screen accuracy is the law...then proceed to turn the blue lights on. It was a very crap joke...barely a joke at all really. :slap

God damn everything is a damn argument and "look how right i am!1#" BS here.

Action figures are great when PROPERLY POSED AND FUTZED. Most people DO NOT know how to do that. Statues tend to look much more natural and require no posing. Point and shoot. BOTH ARE AWESOME THOUGH so I collect and mix BOTH.

STOP THE MADNESS. 1/4 = TRUTH

I'm wondering how far the shoulder pads can be tucked in on this figure. From looking at the proto the shoulder pads can REALLY go in and be completely flush with the biceps, as seen in this video: I really liked that about the 1/4 version but looking at the final release photos the shoulder pad pops out a lot more in many of the shots. If anyone who has the figure can try to reproduce the pose in the vid that would be appreciated. I'm hoping it's just people not 'futzing' with the shoulder pad properly.

And to make the point you had to prove you where right? Funny how that works. Do as I say..not as I do..it would seem. Lol
