I must have missed the scene in Iron Man 3 where graffiti-man jumps out and starts painting a smiley face on the Mk42. It looks like ****, and it is right on the front of a light colored armor. It is all I can see. The rest of it looks great! Just the last 3 blobs of airbrushing are terrible and completely unnecessary. Now I should just not display the chest piece at all to "fix" it is ridiculous. This thing costs nearly $600.

Yeah I mean I'm still getting this haha...the paint aside from the spots looks amazing.

Things like this happen from time to time. Not a great choice to paint it that way, but it's not like anyone has to use it and the suit was built to be displayed with the Bd stuff anyway.

I have to look into it more, haven't had a chance to really look, and yes things like that happen from time to time. But they shouldn't happen on a flagship product from the premier action figure manufacturer in the world.

But I'll probably display it with the clean armor anyway.

Right because those type of marks could never logically be explained or show up in the actual movie. Looks like you did miss the graffiti man. He got all over the suit.

And it's not like the damage could have occurred when say he jumped from one side of the exploding house to the other and missed and slammed into the soot cover concrete floor right at the arc reactor(it happened in the film) or when the rest of the house fell on him in the ocean, or when he used a rope to drags the dead suit through the field.

And it's not a "fix" to use the other chest pieces, it's the exact reason there are multiple versions to "swap" out. So if you don't like one or prefer the other you can use it. Also, this isn't a "flagship product" it's just the next product. People bitched for months about deadpool and then most of those people turned around and called it the best figure of the year. Don't like it don't buy it. Simple fix.

Motux, get a grip man.

Iron Man is the flagship product of Hot Toys. It is the leading product, the brand of figure HT most known for.

It's called a critique which is fine when a company charges $600 essentially for a figure. You don't have to always run to the defense of HT and in the same process rip apart somebody else's argument, which has a valid point.

Getting tired of reading smug responses from you.

Was really looking forward to this variant of the armour as it's my favourite. I know it's only a minor paint application and you could call it a nit pick but it's right on the front, it's what my eyes are drawn to first and they look completely out of place. When displaying the 'clean' armour you'd expect it to be clean with slight scuffs. It doesn't look clean or damaged, to me it looks poorly applied.

I was going to display it clean, as frankly the "battle damaged" look when it is only the arms and chest and face plate doesn't look great to me either and I don't have the skill to paint the rest of it to match. This is my favorite armor from my favorite MCU film, so f me if I wanted it to look even as good as the 1/4 Mk43. Taking the chest piece off or putting the battle damage one on is not a fix if I wanted it to be the clean version in the first place. It is an expensive display piece, it is supposed to display well. Ugly blobs of airbrush paint that don't look like anything but lazy airbrushing on the front and center of a light colored armor make a $600 work of art and engineering look like a NECA toy. Not everyone has the infinite disposable income to buy all this stuff and never display it not care at all if it looks like what was advertised in the first place.

Honestly, it's the fact that it's symmetrical and the same looking shape and size on either size with the same density and fade - but probably the worst things is that there will be no other pat like it on the rest of the armour, because it doesn't look like anything has caused it, it doesn't look like battle damage, it just looks like we need a quick air brush effect. Terrible and lazy, the rusted look of the prototype works, this does not, incredibe disappointment, hope in hand it's different or not as bad.

All the blogger photos are finally coming in ... this is a very awesome touch, assuming it wasn't photoshopped.

I'm so glad they included that on the arm!! I was really hoping it would be on there. Funny little joke with the Mark 42 sitting on the couch.

We need someone with the figure to take the same angle picture as the prototype. marvel-iron-man-3-mark-xlii-quarter-scale-figure-hot-toys-902766-16.jpg

only way to tell if the eyes got all off centered. Some angles might just look worse than others.

The airbrushing on the chest and abs looks absolutely atrocious in my opinion. I was so looking forward to this figure but not with that $10 paint job. The placement of the blobs doesn't even make sense.

the paintwork on the proto of the clean version definitely looks better than the end product..

if it ain't broken, don't fix it?
