Re: 1/4 Hot Toys QS Iron Man 3: Mark XLII Collectible Figure

I really like iron man. I hope hot toys will make at least the main armors from the movie because I'm planning to get at least the first 7 armors and future armors from the movie. but I also undesrtand how this is boring for some people. I personally want to see the deliver penguin & catwoman like they promised years ago:pray:

Re: 1/4 Hot Toys QS Iron Man 3: Mark XLII Collectible Figure

Exactly. Which means the first of many. Yay! Now the 1/4 line can be plagued with Iron Man 3 variations.

Not necessarily. I know Hot Toys and Gaming Heads are pretty different, but a lot of their "first of many" series are pretty bare boned. (some, like Mass Effect are pretty saturated admitadly).. I'm not holding on to the hope that too many more statues will be added to the Tomb Raider, God of War or The Last of Us lines..

I dunno that they would bother doing 1/4 with the HPP. They'd be better off revisiting the older Hero suits. How many times does somebody around here say "if Mark 3/4/6/7 comes out, that's instabuy for me"?

Star Wars and Marvel fans are the worst.

Quarter Scale Morgan Freeman when?

Also, I try not to hate on Iron Man and this Mark 42 is nice and iconic to Iron Man 3, don't get me wrong. But man, three quarter scale figures to his name already in the past two years. Do people even care about the AoU Mark 45? It was barely relevant with the others that preceded it along with the Hulk Buster, now it's obsolete thanks to the Civil War Iron Man that Hot Toys will inevitably do.

There are so many characters from other licenses they announced that are worthy of getting the 1/4 treatment, branch the **** out.

Quarter Scale Morgan Freeman when?

When Episode VIII reveals he's Finn's grandpa.

EDIT: Actually Freeman would make an awesome Alec Guinness/Max Von Sydow type Jedi now that I think about it. Make it so Disney. :lol

They already have their one token black character.

While the gantry base looks really cool, it's not really movie accurate to ironman 3. I mean the mark 42 is the autonimous prehensile suit. It literally follows tony stark wherever he is when he needs to put it on. What does he need the gantry for? But damn, this thing really looks good. I understand why hot toys did it. It's instant attraction. Repaint the figure. Put in a cool base. Bam! Easy money!

A glorified repaint of the QS Mark 43 with added accessories. I love it, but it's harder for me to justify as a purchase since I already have the Mark 43. I will probably bite on this one, just not now.

Re: 1/4 Hot Toys QS Iron Man 3: Mark XLII Collectible Figure

God forbid they should do things that make money :lol

There's only a couple of things they do now a days that make them money. :lol One trick pony on dat Disney **** carousel.

Re: 1/4 Hot Toys QS Iron Man 3: Mark XLII Collectible Figure

Obviously they made enough money selling crappy Rambo, Kyle Reese and Predator figures to purchase the rights to Marvel and Star Wars. So it's not like they'd go out of business if they made more niche figures.

If I was someone who supported their products back in the day only for them to say "thanks for the profits, we'll only do two franchises that you don't collect from here on out!" I'd probably be a little frustrated too.

Re: 1/4 Hot Toys QS Iron Man 3: Mark XLII Collectible Figure

I'll definitely be picking this one up to go with the MK43.

Were do you guys order from if you don't want to use Sideshow ? Their massive shipping cost increase will stop me from ordering from them this time.

Poor HT...they must be struggling. I can't see any other reason why they'd wanna release yet another IM. I mean, clearly they must be on the verge of bankruptcy that they NEED to fall back on it time and time again....

No ones necessarily hating on another IM release. It's the over saturation that's getting most of us riled up. Spacing them out a little further won't do ANY harm to the brand. Two movies that featured IM have come out since IM3...with another 3 more down the line. What are we gonna all of a sudden forget about the character if this 1/4 was announced next year or the year after? Brand fatigue is starting to kick in whether some of us wanna admit it or not. It's no coincidence IM figures aren't selling out immediately like they used to. It's still a top selling character, but it's not on fire like it used to. I know Asia doesn't stand for the entire collecting community, but if even they're beginning to complain, it's something that needs to be seriously taken into consideration...and Asia LOVES their robots.

It's not about striking the iron while it's hot. IM will always be popular. He's not going anywhere in the foreseeable future. 1/4 scale should only be reserved for truly iconic characters. We already have one 1/4 IM, and another one coming this year. I think we're good for a while.

Re: 1/4 Hot Toys QS Iron Man 3: Mark XLII Collectible Figure

I dunno.. people complain there are too many Iron Man figures holding back Drax, Yellowjacket etc, but the only "do we really need this?" figures I can think of in the last year or two are the stealth variations and the die-cast.

HPP suits have been released ever since IM3, and they aren't going to stop. Why people keep complaining everytime a specialist suit like Bones or Sneaky gets added to the roster is beyond me.

The Shanghai promotion has a set purpose. I don't know why the rest of the planet is getting upset about it. I still say is it better to send boring old reused suits over there for the promotion, or how about something genuinely exclusive and not Iron Man related? Watch the community go into meltdown because the only place you buy Civil War Cap (any version) is from Shanghai... sorry guys, if you want a civil-war-ish Cap, either pay 700 on ebay, or stick to AoU and pretend..

The quarter scale series is a different kettle of fish. Clearly, as someone said, Robot and suit type figures work for it. They tend to become scale versions of suits and armour, rather than 'great big dolls'... and considering the rave reviews of the 43, can you blame them for continuing? The only critique I would make is, would it not have been more timely to go the Mark 46, rather than go back to the 42. But it is the easier option given how much it shares in common with the 43. I think if they were to go back in time, maybe they should have gone to the Mark 3 and skipped the sixth scale die-cast.

Did they not just announce a Ripley figure, release a predator figure, and alien, a bttf figure, a commando figure? It's not like they have stopped making those other figures. That's where this argument looses me. The only thing that has changed from say 2009 is that they have added Star Wars and marvel figures. They still make the other figures. And do so at a higher rate then back then. They just also happen to make the others as well.

Just look at the last two or three years and compare the licenses to the first three years of hot toys mms line. There are batman, iron man, alien, predator, terminator in both. They don't have Rambo or rocky, but added commando and bttf. They still have robocop and superman licenses. No potc last couple years. Sill making wolverine. Still making resident evil. No Edward scissor hands but got sleepy hallow. It looks like they still make pretty much the same as they always have, except make more of the figures that make them more money. They have not cut back on the others.
