I just received the following email from BBTS...

"Hello,

This message is to inform you that due to extreme lateness and lack of information from Play Imaginative regarding the PLI10081 Super Alloy 1/4 Iron Man Mark XLII we have made the decision to cancel our preorders because it is unclear whether Play Imaginative will ever fulfill orders. We understand the frustration of waiting so long for an item only to find out your preorder has been cancelled and apologize for this outcome.

We want to assure you that we will relist this item if/when it is actually confirmed by Play Imaginative as being available.

We truly appreciate your understanding and thank you for your continued business.

Sincerely,

BBTS Customer Care
"

I'm not surprised given the lack of news recently and the seemingly unbelievable number of prototypes shown off by Play Imaginative before even establishing the product line.

Okay, I'm getting a steady flow of cancellation emails now for both 1/4 and 1/12 scales so I imagine they might be cancelling preorders for the entire line.

If PI are cancelling the 1/12 line, as well as the 1/4 on such an extremely popular franchise, it suggests Play Imaginative have got serious problems, which is a shame since the Batman figure was great.. it also may suggest that HT got the diecast content to retail price mix about right, and PI did not.. which might give HT pause for thought, about their own figure pricing, on future releases.
:dunno

To clarify it's BBTS that's canceling preorders (the only ones left are the 1/4 and 1/12 War Machine II now) but it wouldn't surprise me if that is all that PI actually makes. They kept showing off all those different armors they planned to make with just a single product from the line actually available. Meanwhile the release dates kept getting pushed back while they released the same armor in different finishes. They did apparently release the 1/4 War Machine II in limited quantities but not yet in the US. We may still have a shot at that. My preorder list got a hell of a lot lighter today which is both good and bad I guess.

I really think king arts is following the foot steps
of play imaginative. Their 1/9 scale diecast iron
man series will never hit the market, and HT
domination shall continue.

I just watched a review on youtube for the 1/4 Iron Patriot that I didn't even know was out. If I can find a good deal I might grab it. Looks impressive.

I have the 1/4 War Machine and it is a great piece. Crazy heavy with the die-cast. The body proportions are the best of any iron man armor made. PI used the 3D model of the suit to make the production pieces. It looks like a real person could be in the suit. My only gripe is the loose fits on some of the bits as they can come off easily from weak magnets. I would love to see the paint on the iron patriot in person.

That looks amazing!! How much was it?

I got this from BBTS when they received them in stock about 3 months ago. I think I paid like $580 for the exclusive. They had the EX for the same price as the regular edition so no brainier, jumped on it. Going to pair this up with the Mark 43 1/4 when it finally releases.

very interested in this, love to add it to my hot toys 1/4 iron man when it arrives, but for some reason they don't look as detailed to me....any comments?

might be die cast but for some reason the hot toys 1/4th looks more realistic.

The PI War Machine is 88% die-cast more than any Hot Toy that has been produced. I can tell you with certainty, looking at the 1/6 scale and this PI offering the Hot Toys iron men look like toys standing next to it (more so than normal). It will look fine next to the Hot toys 1/4 in terms of paint. I only question the height because HT has historically UNDERSCALED their 1/4 offerings. The Batman and Endo are off about 1 inch in height to scale with my Enterbay figures.

The PI proportions are so well done and iron man figures tend to have long chicken legs that are out of scale for proportions as well. Again the 3D scans worked wonders for the symmetry of this figure. Shame PI couldn't get their **** together because this is a very worthy piece to stand next to anything Hot Toys.

Here's a pic of the HT 43 and the War Machine to show the sharpness and detail.

It's a great looking figure hokietwo. This bodes well for the Iron Patriot as it's the same figure for the most part. I just love the Iron Patriot paint scheme. I think the Hot Toys 1/4 Mark XLIII comes across as more detailed because it's a more detailed armor and Hot Toys has weathered it. You would have to compare the same amor.
