That bit of dialogue alone is one reason why I prefer TPM almost. And yes, I totally noticed how awful she looked in that scene. I was all... UGH!!!
And yes, I completely agree with Obi-Wan figure. I have it in a pretty good stance right now and I want to keep it displayed like that, but I so want to play around with it some more. I should probably just buy multiples of everyone. Yah... then i'd be happy.

Mikey, I know I've already told you this but that Obi-Wan is hands down the best repaint I've seen. The colors are a PERFECT match. That last shot with the hood really sells it. I'm SO tempted to have you repaint mine. Just curious, what color did you use for the base? Red oxide? Wow, looks just like Ewan. Absolutely amazing.

Thanks! The base is actually just taupe. The rest is drybrushing and pastels. Many many different mixes went into the applications on that hair, and I'm not sure I'm entirely satisfied with it. I know the next attempt will come out sooo much better.

If there is anything this thread has taught me, it is that Ewan's haircolor is entirely in the eye of the beholder... which is why the color varies so much from painter to painter. Some see more blonde, some see more red, some see a mix in the middle. Mikey went with the red, KGuyver went with Blonde, and I took the middle ground.
Which one is "RIGHT" ??
No one.... everyone... who knows? I think we all found our own path and made an Obi-Wan that looks right to us... And that's all that matters. But, I'd say that our community is pretty solidly divided on this subject....

Thanks Josh. I love your Obi. I think (simply my opinion) that "the middle ground" is usuall the best way to go. My Kenobi turned out how he did because I'd never painted hair that color before. He's the prototype and experiment of what could be a great repaint in the future. Invariably, my work gets better the more often I do it, so hopefully the next one will be much better.
I wanted very much to post good shots of Obi so that I could get full and honest feedback on what needs improving, which has turned out to be a pretty successful way of doing things. Everyone has, by and large, been extremely helpful in their criticism AND praise. He's not perfect in my mind, but here he is, mistakes and all!!

Please don't give the trolling a second thought. Some little kids just want attention and some will pull their pants down and piss on the carpet to do it.
Your repaint is great. When it arrives, I'm going to send you the repaint Josh did for me and have you change it to the right hair color.

Josh is right that each of these repaints' hair colors, as different as they may be, are all correct to some scene in the movie or a publicity still.

Some people ae just downright rude and inconsiderate. I agree that Obi's hair color is speculative as it appears differently under different lighting conditions in the film. I always found that the average of his hair was pretty close to Mikey's with blonder highlights in the beard. Who is right? They all are. I also like Josh's interpretation. With deeper reds and browns that give it more contrast. They are both perfectly good interpretations done by very skilled and talented artists. Both are open to criticism, as any art, no matter how talented the artist, is. However to simply be rude and say it's awful or it sucks is not an intelligent critique of why the subject fails to please. If you have nothing constructive to add then please refrain from such inconsiderate comments.

So true, Dave. I could get speculation, wish lists and *****ing about Sideshow on any number of sites. Seeing what the talented members of this board do with Sideshow's product is the best thing about this site, especially the Star Wars forum.

Thanks guys... Yeah, I agree with Mike... I love all of the repaints I have seen, They all have a look that matches the various publicity pics and stills that we all use for reference. And Ewan had a very light sensitive hair color that just seems to change from shot to shot... it's MAGIC I tell ya!!!
And thanks for the high praise Dave and Pickard.... It really means a lot. And even when we are critized, it still helps. Hell, even I notice that my Obi eye color was just a tad "off" now that It was brought to my attention. That's how we grow as artists. Hell, none of us are perfect and it's always nice to get as many comments as possible... negative or positive.
But this board has been a place that I have experienced my growth as an artist. From being a novice to finally being up to the standards of my mentors (Les and Mikey).....THIS place was the place that nurtured that talent and honed it to what it is today. If it wasn't for YOU guys and for my fellow artists.... I would not be the guy I am now and I sure as Hell would not have the few extra bucks I have from painting!!
