One thing I keep reading is that he doesn't look like the SDCC proto. He does look like the TF one but that seems to be forgotten.

Your right, I think people just like to complain for the fun of it. :monkey5 I'm highly critical of these figures because I've wanted these for nearly 30 years, but I also understand that nothing is perfect, and nothing will ever be. I think whatever minor flaws these figures have are completly over shadowed by how great they really are. I remember growing up with 12" GI Joe's so I've always had a soft spot for 12" figures and when I was young I had the Kenner 12" Luke from '79 and I always wanted Boba but I couldn't find him. As I grew older and my tastes matured I couldn't stomach the Hasbro 12" but I broke down and bought a Power of the Force farmboy Luke because it reminded me of the joy I had playing with the old Kenner one. Then I heard Sideshow got the line and I was overjoyed. I knew of the Planet of the Apes line and the Highlander line so I was thrilled. The preorder for Jedi Luke was like being a kid again. I had the medicom Luke and I thought nothing could be better then that, and I was wrong. He is now back in his box and Sideshow Luke has taken his place.

Anyways, back to the topic. Time and time again pictures of the product hit the boards, people love it or hate it, bickering insues, the products arrive most are happy, some are not. Some repaint them, some don't, some still love them, some still complain about them, and life goes on. And then it's time to preorder some one new, and the cycle begins again. :) Many of the truths we cling to depend greatly on our own point of view.

btw, jlcmsu. Where in Missouri do you live? I'm in St. Louis.

I agree Mr. Hill. If it looks that off when I get it as far as the grey I'll have a complaint. However, I do think you nailed it in that these pics never make these look as good as they do in person. That's why I'm gonna wait to totally hold judgement on the things I don't like till I get mine next Thursday.

Double Chocolate Chip :monkey5

No, he isn't. I thought the same thing.

Are you serious? Russell Crowe?

Of course people like to complain. And they love to be right, too.

Personally, I think SS is doing a great job with the Star Wars line. I was never a Star Wars geek. Didn't own any of the figures and only saw each movie once, but with the release of the last 3 films and then seeing the awesome job SS has been doing, I am now buying Star Wars figures.

The beauty of this hobby, and what most people seem to forget, is the chance to add something to the figure you purchased. Whether its a new paint job or upgrade the clothes. No way is a mass-produced to going to be perfect in everyone's eyes. If you want perfect, make it yourself! How many times have I read of people buying some cheap-ass toy they saw at Wal-Mart and then transform it into a kick-ass piece?!

Again, if you don't like something about the figure. You change it. If you don't like alot about the figure. You don't buy it. Or better yet, make your own like Sovereign Studios.

As much as I like to hear people's thoughts on a new figure, some people feel the need to give us their 2 cents, even when it ain't worth 2 cents.

Eric

They're all joking.

It doesn't look like Russell Crowe either.

Try not to take it too hard. It's a nice sculpt but it honestly doesn't look like Ewan McGregor even in the Long Way Round. It resembles "that one actor" who nobody really ever remembers the name to.

I think they do. :lol Yup, nothing will ever be perfect no matter how bad we or SS wants it. That's just life. I also agree whatever flaws these have are canceled out by how cool they are.

I live about 45 mins outside of Kansas City. Glad to see another Missourian on the board.

As a heart attack. That was exactly who I thought of when I saw it. I see no Ewan in there at all.

No, I'm not. The sculpt is great as far as the detail in it but I don't think it looks like Ewan at all.

Looks like GG statue has some serious grey in it as well.

Re: 12" Obi-Wan IMAGE Thread

Sideshow should get the GG guy's painters to paint their products from now on. I'm going to tone the beard down a little when I get mine in about 6 weeks! ( sucks living in the UK! )

Forget the painter! They should use GG's sculptor! That is definitely McGregor. The only thing that doesn't seem to show in the pic is the mole on his forehead.

Too much grey it looks like to me. I don't remember Obi-Wan in the movie being as grey as either the SSC 12" or GG statue portray. I only remember some very subtle greying at the temples.

Andy's Obi-Wan sculpt is perfection.

In this case, maybe Sideshow should start charging us $30 per figure instead of $50+ then.

Alot of you talk about how "minimal" the mistakes on their figures are. Well yes youre right, anakins red lips is minimal, hans chubby face is minimal, lukes long arms are minimal... but here's one for you guys. If they're so "Minimal" why couldnt Sideshow get them right the first time? Is it so hard to have the correct color lips? Or to visually see that this figures arms are touching the floor? or to see that the eyebrows are painted too thick?

Minimal right? IMO yes they are minimal flaws, but they are flaws that just SHOULDNT have happend.

Re: 12" Obi-Wan IMAGE Thread

Hi. I'm a newbie. Can someone tell me where I can purchase the perfect figure? I'm looking for one with absolutely no flaws whatsoever.

Thanks.
