To have separate hands he'd need to have a pair of arms to use them with, but there wouldn't have been any extra room in the box for them.
The seamless arms are really good though and with being softer plastic the fingers were pliable enough to hold the BAR.
The figure gives me the same good feeling I had after putting together their Buck Compton. There's a quality and naturalness that makes them stand out.
