Re: Hot Toys: Ellen Ripley - Alien (Updated with new prototype HS)

Setting out to prove that under this excuse for a paint job hides the face of Lambert. Stay tuned.

Interesting. Though I don't see it, HT has been sly in doing things like that. Though Hicks got a pretty generic sculpt, one of their military figures at the time was clearly a (superior) Biehn sculpt painted in camo to hide the likeness. Also, Kane was reminiscent of Jon Finch, the actor originally cast in that role.

Do you see the resemblance here? I'm not a 100% but I think it'll be close enough for where I need her to go. Also the lips are fuller in the sculpt than in the paint. It's not a very detailed sculpt in the first place, but I believe the sculpt is quite close to Veronica Cartwright. On this photo it seems like her nose is closer to her mouth but that's more the angle and the thin painted lips on the sculpt. Also her face seems wider on this photo than on most.
But... Looking closer I don't think it's her but I might get her close enough.

I definitely see more of her than Weaver :lol

Maybe if you could squish the facial features a bit it would look even closer.

Re: Hot Toys: Ellen Ripley - Alien (Updated with new prototype HS)

If you're building the whole crew why not use that head for Lambert. Hot Toys sure won't make her so it's not like your custom is going to be made redundant.

I didn't initially see any resemblance to Cartwright myself because the most common image of Lambert in Alien is her screaming or whimpering.

ha, definitely!
at least it explains what the hell that face was.

Re: Hot Toys: Ellen Ripley - Alien (Updated with new prototype HS)

Glad that you see at least some of her in there. She's gonna get in a compression suit so if she doesn't get close enough she's going under the helmet ;-)

Re: Hot Toys: Ellen Ripley - Alien (Updated with new prototype HS)

and with another figure you can also do another expression - Lambert meeting alien :lol

Holy crap! You have a really good eye to catch that. Few tweaks and paint, can't wait to see what you pull off here. Gonna be awesome!

Re: Hot Toys: Ellen Ripley - Alien (Updated with new prototype HS)

I really hope we see a Big Chap... I mean I would think it would be a given they'd do a 2.0, to go along with Nostromo Ripley... maybe not...

They'd be crazy not to do a BC 2.0 to go with Ripley considering they did a Warrior 2.0.

Hot Toys: Ellen Ripley - Alien (Updated with new prototype HS)

Being as though this is kind of a catch all Aliens thread these days, I thought I'd post this. I picked this kit up a while ago that a member here did (can't remember who, got this one on eBay) to fix the crappy hose attachments for the power loader. It's a set of machined metal pins to replace the plastic ones that break off if you look at them wrong.

I was rearranging my displays the other day and one of the hoses fell off the loader, so I think it's time to actually put it to use.

In my opinion, aside from the Ripley figure that came with it, the hose attachments are really the only weak part of the Power Loader. The paint job could probably be better, but it's not bad. Overall, I think it holds up quite well and I'm glad I got it at the original $250 price point (which at the time seemed really expensive).

If HT does get around to releasing an updated Power Loader with Ripley, I hope they make the Ripley figure available separately as I would like a good figure to go with this loader, but won't be buying a completely new set just for the figure.

In the same boat. I don't need a new Powerloader as I'm happy with my old one, so yes, crossing my fingers that there'll be a separate Aliens Ripley - just like back then.

Here's hoping.

I already have a Big Chap, but I won't mind one bit if they make a 2.0, as long as it's actually improved and is more screen accurate, it'll be an insta-buy. If it's basically the same, then I guess that money will go towards other Alien(s) figures they announce, hopefully some Colonial Marines.

I always avoided the old PL because there wasn't a decent Ripley, so it's going to be nice grabbing the 2.0 versions together, even though it's going to be crazy expensive, especially compared to the first versions. :p

I'm not very familiar with any of the Xenos, but does the new Warrior appear to be any different than the original release? I really wish they would just make these all plastic so they aren't forced to stand like a Kenner doll.
