Just whilst we are talking off topic, can someone tell me why the hell Hot Toys made KANE with a Moustache????
It's not even John Hurt!

The likeness is actually close to the actor who was supposed to play Kane before John Hurt. As they couldn't even get close to the rights they had to make another choice that was far from, but still made a bit of sense.
The likeness of the HT Ripley figure was actually very close to Veronica C as they couldn't get the likeness rights for S.W.

Without John Hurt's likeness they probably just based it on this guy, though I don't know who he is. Stuntman maybe or someone just trying on the suit during production.

And then we see her naked legs. Whether the alien ripped her uniform off intentionally, or whether it was ripped off in the violence is not made clear.

It's enough that the filmmakers leave the image, and plant the 'seed' in the viewers' imagination.

I think that is exactly it. We don't know. In the storage room however there are hooks to hang the suits on bars (you can see them in the scene) - I think she was hung up on one of those hence why she's suspended.

I had always assumed the way Ripley reacts shuddering, looking around the room, that Lambert was in pieces scattered everywhere. And thats why the leg doesn't have any pants cause its just a leg.

THANK YOU for the replies :) .

I'm amazed they never approached John Hurt as he was pretty proud of his involvement with the film and an easy going chap.
I guess the licence issue would be the reason, it was just something that puzzled me.

ALIEN

i always thought alien used his tale simply to paralyse Lambert with his sting in a way they paralysed Gorman in A2 in not-final script. and that's how i explained her inability to say anything and weird breathing.
i disliked the actress appearance and her role so much that i never even thought anything like what i later read about her death theory on different forums :panic:

Not once, ever have I imagined Lambert was ***** by a Xenomorph. Some of you have *VERY!* strange imaginations.
Actually quite disturbing.

It's been common knowledge amongst film buffs for at least 30 years that the xenomorph "rapes" Lambert, after a fashion. The original conception of the xenomorph was that its species are actually an advanced culture with art, philosophy, etc but without socialisation the creature in the film is effectively sociopathic and amoral, treating the Nostromo crew like playthings. This eventually grew into the notion of the creature having an inherently short mayfly-like lifespan - the manner in which it kills the crew as the film progresses represents different developmental stages - the childlike "embrace" of Kane in the airshaft, contrasted with the implied sexual manner in which it dispatches Lambert representing it hitting the equivalent of post-pubescence/sexual awakening. The creature's slow movements and desire to hide and sleep aboard the lifeboat represented advanced senescence and impending death.

Fun fact: On the scrolling text behind Ripley in the board meeting in Aliens it says Lambert was born a male.

interesting I shall have to look for that the next viewing. I also heard that Dallas' text said his last position prior to WY/Nostromo was working for the Tyrell corp.

:horror

ALIEN ANTHOLOGY INQUEST PROFILES

With the release of the Alien Anthology BD set, the crew profiles from Ripley’s hearing in Aliens are all available. There are more discrepancies between the Anthology and Legacy with birth dates, schooling, and first names. Other information is strikingly close or identical.
Lambert: Lambert’s Alien Anthology profile adds nothing too much of note, aside from one thing: “Despin Convert at birth [male to female], so far no indication of suppressed traumas related to gender alteration.” It seems that in the future parents-to-be can change the *** of their child in-utero. Lambert seems to have been a male for some time in the womb, before her *** was changed. Smells more like a small joke than anything that adds to the overall Alien mythos. The “so far no indication of suppressed traumas related to gender alteration” seems like a gag on Lambert’s pretty famous disposition throughout the events of Alien.
:horror

no full text though, so i don't know if that part is made up just for Anthology set.

I never noticed the little blurb about disciplinary action for stealing men's tennis shoes. I assume that was meant to explain why she was wearing Brett's sneakers at the end?
