Re: Hot Toys: Ellen Ripley - Alien (Updated with new prototype HS)

With Hot Toys' record on rubber you'd be afraid to open it for fear of something dropping off. :horror
:exactly: they need to wake the f up and either quit it or use better rubber
Great sig haha :joy
OH GOD! Be afraid if HT uses any kind of rubber like substance :horror :eek :yuck
HT+rubber material is like the worst combination in the world for a figure. I'm still hurting inside from my Ed209-less shelf :monkey2
Never got that guy, and never will :nono Sorry dude :duff

Re: Hot Toys: Ellen Ripley - Alien (Updated with new prototype HS)

Agreed on the rubber issue, they need to stop, but aside from that where the heck is the PO for this, I need this and a Alien in the collection:impatient:

I got a chance to play Alien Isolation, made me want this even more now...

Re: Hot Toys: Ellen Ripley - Alien (Updated with new prototype HS)

I'm not sounding sarcastic really....I'm surprised HT hasn't made the alien from Isolation?

It would be mostly the big chap body w/the Alien dog lower legs/calves and big chap feet.

:dunno

Re: Hot Toys: Ellen Ripley - Alien (Updated with new prototype HS)

I'm surprised that they haven't put Ripley, the whole reason for this thread, up for preorder. Forget about some Alien from a video game.

Because it's not Marvel-y enough for them. Videogame? Alien? Bah.

I worry that if they do make a new Alien it will end up being made of rubber. God, I hope, it isn't! It would be such a kick in the balls to get an awesome Ripley and be forced to skip the alien because it's going to rot in 2 months.

Re: Hot Toys: Ellen Ripley - Alien (Updated with new prototype HS)

Hot Toys just officially announced/unveiled the Batman Returns Batman figure. Maybe Ripley's not far behind...

Lets hope so, really looking forward to this line, I missed the first batch of alien figures they made so if I could just get Ripley and one Alien I would be satisfied to at least have them on a shelf.

Re: Hot Toys: Ellen Ripley - Alien (Updated with new prototype HS)

Other than the reveal itself, HT have obviously well missed the boat if you assume they might have wanted to tie in to the Alien 35th anniversary. But *next* year is the 30th anniversary of Aliens... everything Alien-related held til then? Certainly makes sense for the Ripley + Powerloader set, perhaps HT would hold off releasing original Ripley til then as well, gambling that they'd do better having them available at the same time?

I'm hoping we might get spacesuit Ripley as well - but of course I'm also hoping HT are going to revisit the spacesuited Nostromo crew, so yes, I obviously live in some kind of dreamland :) I know there's money in them thar Star Wars, Marvel & Batman licences, and probably bugger all in the rest.. :lol

Re: Hot Toys: Ellen Ripley - Alien (Updated with new prototype HS)

Now that BR revealed and up for PO I feel Ripley's chances just got alot better!

Re: Hot Toys: Ellen Ripley - Alien (Updated with new prototype HS)

Just gotta wait for three years. Seems to be a trend. Ichabod and Bats coming up about 3 years after, just waiting for Ripley in 2017 :lol

Re: Hot Toys: Ellen Ripley - Alien (Updated with new prototype HS)

New marines for the anniversary sounds so good...

Outside of Kyle Reese (and T1 and T2 figures generally) a few of the USCMs with real actor likenesses are my grails now. The outfits are just so cool and even a small squad of Hicks, Hudson, Vasquez and Drake would look so cool made at present standards with working shoulder lamps and so on. Beyond them, probably a Die Hard 1 John McClane.

Re: Hot Toys: Ellen Ripley - Alien (Updated with new prototype HS)

It is insulting that we have Joe Colton and not John McClane. from anyone.

I don't count that NECA figure.

Insulting and ****ing bizarre among many other words.

I'd find it hard to believe that that figure wouldn't be a huge seller.

One of the most iconic characters in Hollywood from what is widely regarded as the finest action film ever made and also the definitive Christmas movie for many people. What the **** is HT waiting for? To make figures from any western movies at all and yet ignore that one? I don't understand.

It is baffling. There must be some kind of rights issues involved that make it either too expensive or too complicated to pursue.

I can't think of another reason for it. Seems like such a no-brainer.

Actually, as I understand it there probably is a rights/likeness issue. Most modern/current movies have contracts where the actors' likenesses are included in the character contracts. You buy the license to produce characters from movie (like GI Joe, Avengers, or whatever) and you have the ability to reproduce the faces of those characters.

Back in the 80s, movies like Die Hard, Aliens, Terminator and all those classics didn't include all that. The 'talent' still owned their own faces separate from the license. To make accurate figures from movies in that era, you need to buy the license from the studio and then negotiate with the talent on top to use their faces. This double payment is why it is so hard to get companies to commit to figures from older movies.

The only thing I do not like about a John McClane figure from DH1 would be the exposed joints
