I just don't want to make another mistake like ED209 where I spend hundreds and then find out the figure is defective. I've had no probs with patriot so far.

Understandable in the circumstances,

based on posts from quite a few owners from HK who already have the figure in hand the joints definitely do have issues, unlike the IP or WM. I'm seriously considering cancelling mine and maybe just go for the power pose...

Yup, apparently the shoulder joint on the Mk42 is different from IP or WMv2.. the idea appears to have been to give the figure greater articulation, but this seems to have had unintended consequences.. I am keeping an eye on the situation, since I have it PO'd in the UK, should get some advance warning, if US owners have issues.

I mentioned DC Direct's Arkham City, Killer Croc figure in an earlier post, because that figure was known to have a shoulder joint problem and I just came across a link which might help owners who need to repair their figure.

I'm keeping my order but will carefully move the joints around for a few days to see if it fails and if it does send it back to SS for a full refund.

based on the HK collectors' reports...the joint material is flawed (much like the ED209 situation). Hot Toys staff initially told many of them the joint failed because they failed to follow instruction, but there were collectors reporting issues such as stress cracks in the plastic even when the toy has not been played with.

I can't read the Far Eastern forums, so I'm kinda relying on feedback from US owners, in order to get a better feel for how much of an issue (or not) the shoulder joint really is, on the diecast Mk42.. if its a weakness which only really affects heavily posed figures I can probably live with that.. if its more of a DC Direct Killer Croc type issue, that would probably tip me into cancelling the PO and getting the Power Pose Mk42 instead.. because I agree with CollectorGuy, that over a certain price bracket, the figure's QC has to reflect that price bracket.

Where's the link to all these posts?

I don't see how, its already been delayed a bunch and I don't see HT stopping it at this point.
I am drawing the conclusion that it is indeed flawed material used in the shoulder and they will all be defective.
I swear HT has been doing good lately and now all this crap is happening.
Its like they would rather release defective products and get your money than do anything about it.

Like the ED209 for instance, I cant believe that thing hasn't bee factory recalled yet, but I guess they hope to sucker more people till they cant get anymore money 1st.

Finally purchased this guy. Should expect to receive him by Wednesday next week. Review and pictures to follow!

Ed209 and this figure have nothing in common - at all - literally.

Well actually this figure like ed209 could be severely defective, and considering HT stance about ed209 I think it has relevance.
With this coming out soon, I would be worried if I were u. Who knows what corners they cut with this guy.

I ain't scared. We've seen reported problems from 2 or 3 people globally with this figure so far :lol So again, what 'could be' with this figure and what IS with the current rubber deterioration in the ed209, and the old one for that matter, is not comparable. For all we know those are kids (like the video posted) manhandling the figures like they are 5 dollar toys.

I agree- a few out of how many? were reported damaged...just because it's reported doesn't make it a widespread problem....

I think this arm problem is a myth. About three people have broken their Iron Man arms and it seems to me that those three were people who got the figure as soon as it came out, posed it without realising the joint was plastic and fragile and have ended up doing damage to it. Everyone else since (now knowing the joint was fragile) has moved the arm with care and not suffered a break.

If it was defective material all, of at least an entire batch, would be broken. Not three. Some of the stuff posted here really makes no sense. There are hundreds if not thousands of these figures already out and less than handful of issues. To say it's the figure's (hot toys) fault at this point is ridiculous. Blaming the owners makes a bit more sense...

Are the joints on Iron Patriot same as this? Anyone knows it that figure has joint problems too?
