...and just few months ago people were saying there will be no more diecast ironman after MK42. Yet here we are Why are some people here so quick to shoot down any notion that more diecast IM might be made? Are they concerned about their plastic IM stock dropping? Relax, even if you're right, let us 'have-nots' dream a little - it's all we got left

The original Mark III prices have dropped on ebay over $100 since SDCC...it has a definite effect on prices...

From what little I understand of toy manufacturing, diecast is expensive to implement in initial costs, machines, etc. however once a factory is set up to make die cast figures, actually producing them is very cheap as diecast is a cheap metal.

I don't think however that you can say "it's easy money" in the sense that hey, they already made a plastic mark vi, just reuse the molds and put in diecast instead of plastic. Don't think it works that way. A new mark vi would still have to be engineered from the ground up and new molds made. The benefit to doing diecast isn't that they can just reuse old armors easily but that they can charge an extra $60 for a diecast armor when (according to what I've read) the materials that go into it aren't really more expensive than plastic.

If that happens I'll definitely want one as I wasn't collecting HT when the original Mark VI was released so I missed the chance to get one for a decent price and without any fading.

That would be a definite buy for me if that's the case. I sure hope they space it out well or I'll go broke real fast!

I did briefly own an original Mark VI but it had already started to fade so I only kept it for a couple of weeks.

To this day I think it's got the best battle damage of any of the HT Iron Man figures so far.

Back on topic, I'm looking forward to seeing the Mark 42 in person, from what my friend tells me it's quite a moment when you take your first diecast Iron Man out the packaging and feel the difference in weight from the plastic ones.

IM3 = IP/WM 2.0/42er
Avenger = Maybe canceled

They canceled IM3 Heartbreaker as DieCast.

There's no way they won't do the Mark VII or Mark XLIII in die cast. Frankly I would be surprised if the main Iron Man armours (ie not the "cameo" armours from Iron Man 3) are released in anything but die cast from here on out.

There's no way they won't do the Mark VII or Mark XLIII in die cast. Frankly I would be surprised if the main Iron Man armours (ie not the "cameo" armours from Iron Man 3) are released in anything but die cast from here on out.

There's no way that is going to happen. Look at the Heartbreaker armor. Originally announced as Diecast but demoted along the way to plain old plastic. And except for the Mark III not a single Diecast armor has been announced. Obviously they aren't selling as well as they hoped.

I think Hot Toys will try to revisit the first seven armors in diecast, but the less popular armors, such as the Mark V, may be skipped altogether. Mark IV and Mark VI are almost slam dunks, Mark I, II and VII are very strong maybes.

House Party Protocol armors will more than likely be made in plastic in much more limited numbers. Don't be surprised if several are offered as seasonal, or convention-themed, exclusives.

I can see select armors in the Age of Ultron movie being made in diecast, like the Mark XLIII, but a huge armor like the Hulkbuster will almost assuredly be in plastic. Even then, it will likely cost north of $600.

If Igor is $510 it would be over $600. Im positive it will be plastic but you never know Howard might get drunk one night and say make it in diecast .

And this is just one reason why (besides $, obviously) Hot Toys will continue to make Iron Man armors in diecast, for both new collectors and old collectors looking to "upgrade."

So there is NO a battle damaged version of this Iron man like mark VII??

With the Mark III diecast and HPP armors in the works and Age of Ultron just around the corner, a full-fledged BD Mark XLII might be the only Iron Man figure Hot Toys won't do. I think all of the interchangeable BD options in this release are more than adequate.

So long as the shoulder issue is fixed, a lot of the guys who are getting this figure are going to be really pleased with it.

But i just wanted to know, i preordered one of the mk xlii die cast figures, and i've just got a few questions like does anyone actually know when sideshow is gonna have these babies in stock? I admit i've been addicted and have been checking every day haha and what exactly is the problem with the arm joints? I've been hearing vague reports but i'm honestly scared that mine will have the problem
