Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - MMS - Star Wars: Episode V ESB - Darth Vader

I think that post is meant for the Japanese market, as the official Hot Toys shop is likely the only vendor in Japan. I'm pretty sure we'll see it go up for preorder on SSC, BBTS, etc. next week. If not, then they're pants on head retarded.

Nice to see some confirmation about the LED saber and the helmet only revealing the back.

Makes you think why purchase this when the full head sculpt of ROTJ is just around the corner. The only difference between the two is.....

Patience....yeah yeah

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - MMS - Star Wars: Episode V ESB - Darth Vader

This is the perfect companion figure for the DX07 Bespin Luke, both the clean and BD versions. With that base, it would make for a perfect "we can rule the galaxy as father and SON" display with BD Bespin Luke.

Will Vader standing on the gantry fit in a detolf?

Thats the million dollar question!! Below is my Vader on the SS stand and you can see how close it is to the top. So based on my image I doubt ESB Vader on stand will fit.

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - MMS - Star Wars: Episode V ESB - Darth Vader

With a now closer look at them, I notice the gloves don't appear to have the 1.0 ANH Vader two-piece treatment, after all.

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - MMS - Star Wars: Episode V ESB - Darth Vader

Contrary to popular believes, there is actually a very soft widow's peak on the ESV helmet. It is the ROTJ helmet that is totally missing the peak.

Here is my ESB helmet. You can see the soft peak there.

It's all about pointy bit versus no pointy bit. ESB has no pointy bit, but the HT fig - so far (probably mock-up) - has a pointy bit.

"Widow's peak" means a visible inverted triangle (like what Eddie Munster has.:lol)

The tight ribbed tunic is much too "tailored" looking but may be futzable with water treatment and some pinching here and there.

They way HT has done it you lose the ribbed tunic in the lines of the ribbed leather undersuit.

It will be - the RO Vader had the same ribbed look and you can just break it up even without water.

I like that Bespin gantry!

I'll use it for my 4" Vader which will be in perfect scale if I can move the handrail down.

With a now closer look at them, I notice the gloves don't appear to have the 1.0 ANH Vader two-piece treatment, after all.

Yeah, the gloves are definitely sculpted. They would never have used that goofy two part design again. Except for Death Star Gunner. And Death Star Trooper...:lol

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - MMS - Star Wars: Episode V ESB - Darth Vader

Hmmm... Guess I'll have to own at least 3 versions of HT Vader. Was hoping this would've been more like SS where they combined the 2 ESB/ROTJ versions. But I guess I ultimately new HT wouldn't do that to make fans happy. Movie accuracy (really Money) 1st... :(

Still glad I passed on the RO version since, for me, he offered nothing new other than better gloves. Curious to see how much of a dive on the secondary market the RO figure will take since the main reason many people seemed to prefer that version was cause he looked "shiny and new". Well, now they can have shiny and new, light up chest belt and lightsaber, removable dome to see scared head, and a cool stand too...

Can never have too many Vader's in ones collection, as I still have both SS versions and even the 1st Medicom ROTJ Vader (which I have still never opened)... :)

In that initial photo, it almost kind of looked like that was the route they were opting for again. :lol

I have ANH Vader, but luckily I have him in a "I've been waiting for you, Obi-Wan" pose where he's holding his ignited lightsaber that is protruding out of the cape, so the hands are concealed by the cape.

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - MMS - Star Wars: Episode V ESB - Darth Vader

I can't fail to notice that belt and shoulder armour are rotj accurate. Like ss one it seems to be a mix beetween esb and rotj. Apart from that...great figure..very tempted ...

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - MMS - Star Wars: Episode V ESB - Darth Vader

I know there are minor differences (chest box, widows peak, etc) but I've found ESB and ROTJ to be really similar. If just walking by, you could easily pass one for the other. I'd be fine with this ESB Vader and passing on the eventual ROTJ version. I think HT used this ESB Vader in the Jedi Luke promo pics lol. We all thought they were jumping ESB.

No, chest box in the Luke Jedi promo pics is actually ROTJ. The one in this ESB preview is the correct ESB chest box (there are a few subtle differences between ESB and ROTJ boxes.)

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - MMS - Star Wars: Episode V ESB - Darth Vader

So what are the differences between ESB & ROTJ Vaders? I don't look at them that closely

Ohh my bad. I need to see a side by side lol.

Peak, chest box, belt, shoulder armour, chest armour (cape clip), crotch armour, saber....something else?

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - MMS - Star Wars: Episode V ESB - Darth Vader

Hmm, I still love my RO Vader, but think it might be time to convert it into an ANH so I can have this one as my shiny Vader...

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - MMS - Star Wars: Episode V ESB - Darth Vader

So I can surely affermate that, about what I can see from current pictures, shoulder armour, belt and crotch armour are rotj accurate. A mix beetwenn esb and rotj very similar to ss one.
