1/6 Hot Toys MMS - Episode III ROTS Anakin Skywalker (Dark Side) Collectible Figure

I know Sideshow’s getting a lot of deserved hate for this, but they were really cool about transferring my NRD for regular Anakin amd I’ll be able to get this one through a friend attending the show. I’m pretty excited about it.

If you're able to get this and you have an interest in both sculpts, getting this figure (since it's the exact same figure as the other one being that the outfits are both clean) and then picking up a parted out sculpt from the regular figure would probably be the way to go. The regular sculpt will probably be more in abundance and therefore, cheaper than trying to pick up a parted out sculpt from this figure.

Luckily for myself, I have zero interest in a Sith eyes sculpt and zero interest in the Mustafar droid base (being that I generally put my figures on generic oval bases anyway), so this release doesn't appeal to me in the least. Even if this was the one that released first, I would have passed on it and waited until they did the regular version with the normal sculpt.

Only figure I was interested in from the PTs was Maul. But I’ve always liked this “Darth Vader” version - when the evil has taken over. Hood up Mustafar slaughter. I wonder why he’s not labeled that way?

I think we had all these conversations last year. I know a few people paid up to $100 over retail to get someone to pick the exclusives up for them at the show and then a couple day later it was available for everyone on SS at retail. I'm sure it will be up at SS even the wording makes it sound like it will be available for everyone eventually "will be firstly available on-shelf at Sideshow Collectibles Booth". Not ONLY available just available there 1st.

Yeah I agree it will be available to be shipped after SDCC. I'd guess it'll be pretty limited though. At least Mezco or NECA aren't running this, otherwise they'd completely feed into the scalpers

Though I prefer a Jedi representation of Anakin, the dark side version is the nicer package of the 2 to me. The accessories alone are nicer IMO. I'd take the diorama base and lightsaber effect piece over Dooku's lightsaber any day, which will be available with his release anyway.

So I had a waitlist convert for the original Anakin, but asked if I could swap over for this, they said as a one time offer I could get a full refund for what I've paid for the original then I intend to order this - I'm guessing this will eventually be able to be ordered online for delivery like all previous toy fair exclusives?

Nope. Luke and Han in Trooper disguise were both exclusives and there was some other Trooper variant from one of the Battlefront games. There have been various other exclusives too like the Shadow Trooper, Spacetrooper, Jyn in Imperial disguise, the gold Stormtrooper, and that ugly porcelain Stormtrooper.

I was supposed to get the first Anakin figure from someone here on the forums, but they scammed me and I never received it. I almost placed an order for it on Sideshow a few weeks later, but something held me back... I had a feeling we would get some sort of evil variant down the line and it looks like I was right.

As soon as I heard about this, I rushed to Sideshow to place an order, only to see that it was pick up only. They've shipped exclusives in the past, so I have no idea why they're doing this now.

It's a load of bull.

Whatever they don’t sell in POs/pick ups and convention sales will be put up for sale on the site. Also - I’m guessing- if that is low they’ll have a “Waitlist” while waiting for the new batch from HT.

Messaged them and SS replied that they are only the distributor and that HT told them to sell these at SDCC for pickup at the con. So they have to comply with what HT says for them to do. They did not answer my question whether this and other TF exclusives would go up for PO online. I hope so because I'm sure there'll be one that I'll want.

There has to be a general release later on. It makes no sense to let scalpers make all the money on this. It will be insane on eBay for a while, then it will appear as a general exclusive, maybe without the special stand. I do like the stand. If it ends up being only sdcc, then we got hosed. I wanted this, knew it was a ridiculous purchase, saw 265, still planned to get it, and then realized pickup only. This is madness.

Maybe Hot Toys saw the frenzy created with the Dr. Strange on Evil Bay and the tidal wave of pre orders received once IW Dr Strange went up.

If that's the case then, they will let this sell out at SDCC allow a month or so to go by to really fan up the frenzy then release the online PO for him LOL.

Totally agree!

I mean, even if they are eventually available though retailers, a tactic like this gives scalpers an upper hand for days/ weeks/ months that follow. I just don’t see how a manufacturer supports this type of practice knowing what type of market it creates.

So much of an extra hassle for sith eyes. Personally I was really into them until I saw the comparison. Maybe it's my wallet telling me or the fact I love in Florida but I think I'll keep my unopened regular anakin.
