IMO HT did Old Han better than they did Young Han. :/

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - MMS - Star Wars: Episode VII - Han & Chewbacca Collectible Figure

Man how I wished this would be a 1/4 Han .... sculpt is perfect.. no idea what you guys see who are bitching about it.. guess even if Ford himself would knock on your door you would not recognize him...

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - MMS - Star Wars: Episode VII - Han & Chewbacca Collectible Figure

His chin. It's huge.

It matches a picture of the man perfectly. You see that right? The image I posted is a photo of the real Ford overlaid on half the actual sculpted head and it matches perfectly, besides they tucked his ears in a bit. His chin is identical to the chin in the photo. How is that bad?

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - MMS - Star Wars: Episode VII - Han & Chewbacca Collectible Figure

I am not seeing what's off in this sculpt.

As for seeing or recognizing Harrison Ford...I don't think what was said galactiboy was that you could look at something and see Ford, but that when all you have is a picture in your mind and that's what your comparing something to you may just be recalling some detail in correctly. And science backs up that idea. People are horrible, as a whole, at faces.

Yep, that's what I'm getting at. It seems especially when it's a character or actor we are passionate about we seem to form a stronger internal image of what they look like. But others (like Mark Rufalo/Bruce Banner) the association or image isn't as strong so when you see a sculpt it's like damn, spot-on :lol

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - MMS - Star Wars: Episode VII - Han & Chewbacca Collectible Figure

It'll be a hard decision for me to decide whether to get the set or just Han. I think Han is great--perfectly happy with the figure as is. But Chewie's not so great. However, I think it could be a matter of futzing. People here have worked miracles with the ANH Chewie. I also like the updated bandolier--lots more detail than the ANH version. It will also be nice to have them both since they ARE such an icon as a pair.

I'm sure I have plenty of time to decide...

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - MMS - Star Wars: Episode VII - Han & Chewbacca Collectible Figure

Maybe this will make it clear. The right side of this image is Fords photograph..the left side is the JC master paint head. I don't see how the left side chin is out of whack with what the man actually looks like. Looks pretty accurate to me.

Again, one side is a photo the actual actor and one side is a piece of plastic. And except for the light tonal differcne from the image you can't tell one from the other.

Anyone notice the product shot of Han facing off against Kylo? It's the back of Kylo and he's holding his helmet. You can't see his head so who knows for sure, but could it be a teaser that HT is gonna put out an unhelmeted Kylo?

Actually that pic just highlights the difference to me, which is that the lines and contours aren't nearly as deep or sunken in as they are on Ford himself. HT has made his face a bit flatter than it should be, at least to my eye.

It's a very subtle thing, but as we've seen with other likenesses all it takes is just a very small thing to throw it off sometimes.

Trevor's sculpt of TFA Han may not have nearly as much detail, but to me it captures the more sunken features and overall shape of the actor's face a whole lot better (even if it is based on the slightly younger Ford from Indy 4):

I'm very tempted to get this. The only VII figures I've ordered so far are Rey and bb8 but that's mainly for bb8. Everyone else will reappear. Solo, maybe not. ;)

PO'd the pair.

Exactly. If there's one TFA figure to get it's Old Solo, which shouldn't be hard for any OT fan (or maybe bitter sweet depending on your adoration of the character), but he came out great. I would order him today if I had enough reward points but I'll wait until a few more convert so i can get him for roughly free.

These are just a couple quick screen grabs.

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - MMS - Star Wars: Episode VII - Han & Chewbacca Collectible Figure

I guess some can't be pleased because these both look perfect. $20 increase for Han is for the coat, $25 is for articulated jaw on Chewiw... at least I assume. Which the price is fine for me. Now just need old Luke/Leia and Poe shown at SDCC and the TFA shelf will be incredible.

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - MMS - Star Wars: Episode VII - Han & Chewbacca Collectible Figure

I think Han looks great! Only choice now is to either get just Han or the 2 pack... hmm..

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - MMS - Star Wars: Episode VII - Han & Chewbacca Collectible Figure

Ouch on the price what was the ANH 2 packs price?(I bought mine during a Popcultcha glitch)

I'll grant the skin folds are not as deep as ford...but that doesn't make the chin off. That photo you posted isn't even close to the actor. Even younger. There are multiple features that are off.
