Try telling that to all the people over in the HT ANH Vader thread.:rotfl It just always sounds funny when people say that because the minute ANY figure ships, threads start as people mod it to make it.... more screen accurate.

And if I had that SSC Bossk, THIS is how I'd pose him, three fingers and all...:rock2

Yeah, it's amazing how EVERY thread has the same progression. Initial excitement when a figure is first announced. Then comes impatience during the wait. Once something is finally released, every detail get broken down and problems are magnified.

And then a couple months later, a bunch of :slap because they missed out and they're going for a premium.

I need to get my Bossk in that MJ pose:lol

As far as the detail scratches go, you're definitely in the wrong hobby if you want 1/6th figures 100% screen accurate.
Of course wanting that is unrealistic. I (& others I'm betting) have never implied that. :lol

Btw, I personally don't like that SSC Bossk figure; looks like a stylized Clone Wars version or something, & not the dude in the movie. :huh

it's all good, I respect people's opinions. At the end of the day, I'm personally glad we got what he got and would prefer the figures from my photo rather than this.

SSC Boosk is awesome. I can't see any relations to CW Trandoshans design. He is so much better than movie model.

Sounds like "parenting."

Winner.

It's terrible. Different than the 1/4 (which is really bad, also), it almost looks like they used the Sideshow helmet as the base.

Yes, I have two on preorder. But it's really, really bad.

Please inform how this is 'really, really bad' and 'terrible'. ...I don't see it?

Here's a rough comparison shot with a movie still and the helmet of my figure.

Weathering/scratches are obviously different between the two, with more scratching on the dome of the prop.

T-Visor looks really good to me. I don't see the inaccuracies that the Fett-perts see but I'm ok with that. The Hot Toys helmet may not flare out enough but keep in mind the shot of my figure was taken with a cell phone. There's definitely some lens distortion going on.

IMO, this is the definitive 1/6 scale Boba Fett and aside from the wonky gloves, he's perfect.

To me it's not really about opinions. I just think this idea that someone at a toy company gets to make a decision to actually redesign characters from one of the most loved (and obsessively known) film trilogies in movie history because they "don't look good enough" is pretty arrogant.

I mean the cowardly lion from Wizard of Oz does look a little cheesy (hey, limitations of makeup at the time) and in need of a facesculpt tweak, right?:lol

And in ROTJ Bossk was an incomplete costume relegated to a background character (like Dengar in ESB, he's barely visible in the actual movie and isn't in the scene pictured) - ESB is where he's featured and looks cool.

SSC Bossk has issues beyond the likeness - to me he just has a bit of a wonky look overall with the sausage arms due to the odd decision to add (obviously visible) wrist and ankle articulation and his legs looking like a skinny boy with his pants rolled up too far. To me the figure captures the shrieking bird Bossk in Dark Forces though.

If you're really gonna call toy makers arrogant because the figures aren't 100% accurate, that's a discussion I don't have the passion for.

So you're gonna tell guys in the 501st who don't have screen accurate height/weight of their characters that they're not Vader, Stormtroopers, etc and are just arrogant too?:dunno

That's silly. I guess you'll be bringing up plush toys next.:rotfl

The visor does look better than the 1/4 Fett's. Looking forward to seeing the helmet in-hand.

It's just a bit strange to see Hasbro attempt to match the scratches even on their 6" Fett fig, but HT doesn't appear to have even tried.

I tried to clean up my reply because I knew you'd get defensive but sure, do you get offended that people at toy companies make plush toys that aren't screen accurate as well?:lol

And just to be clear, you're not buying this figure because you don't support arrogant toy makers, right?

If you are, why would you if it upsets you so much?

It's the best 1/6 Fett so far - why wouldn't I buy it? All I did at the start of this was say it was odd they would be so obsessive about screen accuracy on EVERYTHING ELSE on the figure (which is what HT is) but not match the scratches. It's that logic disconnect I was questioning, not the overall fig's quality - there's a difference, right?

And next week I'll be posting in-hand pics of the helmet next to my Marmit helmet if that answers your question. But why does me buying the figure negate my criticism of it?

I just needed to know if I was replying to someone who's just complaining about a figure they're not buying or if I'm really talking to someone who considers non-screen accurate scratches on the helmet as a "redesign".

But it is what it is. I'm sure photos with the Marmit will be appreciated by people in this thread. Looking forward to seeing it.

The discussion evolved away from the point I originally raised - Bossk was indeed redesigned, this Fett was not. But you understand that.

And yes, we all understand the context - that we are in threads where people talk down figures they won't buy then talk up figures they did buy.

For absolute clarity, so we don't go off on accuracy-of-obese-501st-members-in-costume tangents :)rotfl), let me restate this:

I think Hot Toys' Fett looks great, but in your picture I think I can see the problems people have with the T-visor. On screen helmet top looks curved and bottom straight. On Hot Toys it looks opposite. Top straight and bottom curved. I used my Galaxy Note to demonstrate.
