Hmm. I had cancelled my pre-order on this, but seeing all these great pics has me reconsidering. Here's the thing though--I only want this if I can put the Tobey Maguire headsculpt on it from the black Spider-Man set, so I can have a Maguire Spidey versus Venom setup, but the Tobey headsculpt doesn't have a neck attached. Not sure what kind of modifications I would need to get it to fit on this figure. Maybe I would have to buy a separate neckpost?

It is possible with little effort

That looks pretty bad. The head looks way too big for the body and the neck makes him look like an alien.

:exactly: I didn't refer it would be the best look, just that it is possible, because of the neck pegs on both asm bodies we are pretty much stuck using the asm neck post for the Toby head which of course wasn't designed to fit the asm bodies.:slap

Love the pics, Snake! Argh, that mouth!

I wonder how this guy would be if we changed the underlying body to the Synthetic Human thingy from 1000Toys? Those things are supposed to be used as such, no?

Thanks for the demonstration--the Tobey head sits a little high unfortunately. That's okay though--he still looks great in the black Spider-Man outfit, and the Amazing outfit has a great looking classic Spidey head.

Wow -- I wasn't aware of this til I saw the man himself post this on Facebook:

"I was hired to work on the Amazing Spider-Man 2 movie to help design Spidey. But in the end not much designing went on as the director asked me to draw Ultimate Spider-Man, just make him more realistic."

After I found out that a lot of the costume designs from the latest Marvel movies were not actually made by Adi Granov, things stopped being obvious to me.

Museum poses :pfft:
Not this guy folks..It's Spidey!

I like how in certain angles the grey can look like the traditional white from the comics :yess:

How can anyone not see the comic classic look in this

Trust me in hand the webs don't look as silvery, but more of the dull grayish color or darker shade in the film :lecture

I really don't like the head and specifically the eyes on the Spider-Man 3 figure. Still contemplating getting this figure as he's pretty cool looking. Maybe with the next Sideshow coupon.

The eyes IMO is what makes this figure special then the other versions thus far that HT has developed with the Spidey franchise. It's what a collector wants to see bringing a figure to life IMO

The light takes the eyes on this too the ultimate level in a spidey collectible figure

Yup--it's definitely all about the eyes with this figure. the Spider-Man 3 figures had an eye shape that didn't work for me at all, which is why I generally display my black Spidey with the Tobey head (plus the Tobey head is a great sculpt anyway.) Spidey should have a slightly creepy, insecty, "bug-eyed" look going on. This figure finally nails it. And thankfully no more horrid yellow color.

I'm just hoping that whatever material the costume is made out of, it can stretch better than the Spider-Man 3 outfits. I tried a non museum pose for my black Spidey and after awhile a pinhole sized tear showed in the crotch of the costume. You can hardly notice it but it would have kept getting worse--so he's in a museum pose now. It would break my heart if I had to put this guy in a museum pose too.

Don't worry I have left mine in action extreme poses for days and no tears or creases, they made this material extremely stretchable

It is stretchable yes. But this means that the material will start to bunch after you return the figure to a neutral pose as it remains stretched.

I posed mine for a video review and left it for about 1 hour. Upon returning the figure to the neutral pose the suit is already not as tight as it was out of the box.

Well I'm planning on keeping mine in a non-museum pose pretty much permanently. It won't be extreme, but I would like to finally have Spidey in a crouch.
