This is the old shield but I don't want to dig up the old A1 Cap thread.

Legit? or custom? I remember the customs having a band strap in the back rather than "leather" straps but these leather straps look cheap...

Is that those bootleg diecast shields you can get off eBay, but they are much heavier than the HT diecast shields?

Wish I could help you here. I have two AoU Caps actually and the same thing happened to one of mine. When attempting to zip it back down (I've always found it odd that the zippers on these figures close by zipping down as opposed to up), it essentially stopped zipping halfway and the teeth on the zipper began to become detached above the zipper (as shown in your image). The zipper eventually just became disconnected from one side.

At this point, I've just resorted to looking for a spare one on eBay.

I learned my lesson on Hot Toys outfits a long time ago. It doesn't matter which character we're talking about--if you start undressing Hot Toys figures there is absolutely no guarantee you won't damage the outfit. People who kitbash these figures do so at their peril.

I remember I once planned to use a more modern Cap's body and head to upgrade the First Avenger Cap. I immediately damaged the First Avenger outfit just trying to remove it. Hot Toys outfits look great but they're far too fragile for me to risk taking them on and off the figures the way I used to do with my old Megos.

I've never ruined an outfit and I'm not about to start now. I can't bring myself to do anything more than snip threads or adjust clothing... It's why I never attempted the Tony Mei cape mod on Superman.

My first AoU Cap, I undid the zipper so I could tighten the screw on one of the joints and then messed up the zipper on his vest. Luckily, I was able to get another figure when it was still at its regular price and all I've done with that one is snip off some excess threading (most of the time I even leave small loose threads) and removed the utility belt once simply to adjust his pants a bit and that was it. Not touching him other than to pose.

As JBot said, I couldn't bring myself to do any custom mods, such as the MoS cape mod like he mentioned. No way. I'm a person who likes to keep my figures stock, anyway.

BBTS has them, but it's way over retail. Last I saw they were waitlisted at SS, but maybe SS is waiting for a huge allotment of them to come in. It's way too early to be completely sold out.

CORRECTION: Now BBTS is out of them.

....if not HT is leaving a boat load of money on the table.... under producing is just as bad as overproducing.

Someone posted earlier that they called SSC about the figure and they were going to be fulfilling existing orders, but that would be it. Any waitlist reservations that are converting may just be other orders that were cancelled or Flexpay payments that did not go through.

I screwed up too a while back. I stupidly cancelled my order on this a few months ago thinking the figure would still be around.

I thought I'd have plenty of time to pick this up as well, but local suppliers started selling out a month or so ago. Ended up finding one, but at $30 more than the other places were.

Well hopefully people will learn not to wait that long and risk something getting sold out. I honestly don't feel sorry for those who were waiting for this to go on discount.

To be fair, with how things were the last year it's easy to get used to that. Figures sticking around for months and months, getting 30+ percent off. I was waiting for Falcon to get a nice discount and he sold out in the meantime. Folks have to start thinking about buying sooner rather than later these days.

I was waiting for a discount on Cap, he sold out and got lucky on to find him on Amazon for $240 shipped before the guy raised it to $300 on his last one. I'm definitely going to keep vigilant on the figs I'm after.

Makes me think if BBTS jacked up the price, they know that sideshow really have sold out or wont be bringing more in. They probably have too much stealth suit set sitting on their shelves.

Lucky you have the power and can brush it off. I own each Cap from Hot Toys and this will not stop me. lol

There's a couple brand new on eBay right now (one from Vancouver and one from HK) that are listed that have no reserve. The one from Vancouver is at a buck and has 4 days left in the auction and the one from HK is at 50 bucks and has 2 or 3 days left I think.

Both I'm sure will undoubtedly get foolishly bidded up to well above 300 bucks, but you never know.
