Time to play Spot the Production Piece. As I've stated before, I am a fan of this Luke, but when he was announced I thought he might be the finest human male likeness I'd ever seen from HT. what really happened? Do you think the actually altered the sculpt? This seem highly unlikely, but could it really just be the paint apps??

Paint apps can really make or break a figure/statue. The first Red Sonja statue from Sideshow is a good example of this.

I thought the proto for Luke also had a killer likeness, but something was clearly lost in production. It's a shame.

I really don't think it's the paint apps with this one. I think it's mainly the way the hair piece sits. That's what changed the most. Head looks a little better when you don't see how tall the hair really is.

Eyes look better shaped on the proto and hairpiece looks like it got a bit deformed in production.

I'm going with bottom middle. It's the eyes that give it away...I think. :lol

Not sure if it's the angle, but the eyes on that one seem to match the production sculpt, and the eyes in that photo look a little closer to the bridge of the nose than the others.

As much as I really really want this piece. I am passing on it because of the headsculpt. Something just doesn't look right and I know it will bug me whenever I look at it.

Man, that top middle shot looks pretty good. Still not quite right, but miles ahead of what we got. I've been trying to get Inigo to do an ANH Luke sculpt to replace this (now that he fixed Han), but it looks like he's going with the Jedi version for now.

I'll take the bottom, center square for the block (as in...I wish I could block it from my vision)

Wow that really does make a difference actually.

It appears that the hair is too tall and does not puff out as much as the proto did. If a hair piece could be made that reduces the height and adds the thickness at the sides near the ears, it would improve the look of Luke immensely.

If there was a way of trimming the top part of the hair down and attaching it to the lower section seamlessly I'd do it. Failing that it will be a total resculpt on the hair for me.
