That was my thinking as well. Even if the costume stayed the same as that seems pretty good to me, at least give us a new/updated headsculpt and better proportioned body. Instead we get a diorama base. Don’t get me wrong, the base looks really cool and I’m starting to like more basses like this that don’t take up the full shelf but still add something a little different a cool for the individual figure. I got tired of the oval stands.Having just about all of the TDK line of figures, I was hoping that any revisits would be as upgraded figures such as Two-Face, which was quite an improvement to the original. I don't feel or see the need to upgrade this one. I hope HT doesn't go half-assed with the next Joker.
So odd to me.I tried watching TDKR a few weeks ago revisiting the movie after many years. I was a difficult watch, I had to turn if off. I’m not saying it was bad (well maybe) but just to serious for me. I need to go back and watch the entire trilogy again to see how I feel. I know at the time the idea for “These new Batman movies” was to make them more serious and remove themselves from the Burton campiness but I’m wondering after all these years I might just prefer the “Burton campiness” for my Batman comic book movie. I guess I’ll go back and see.
So odd to me.
I feel like this movie has only gotten better with time. It’s still the only CBM thats made me deeply relate to and feel compassion for the hero and IMO the only truly inspiring CBM ever made.
Rises shows us a human hero who can come back from personal failure and atone for their mistakes.
Batman Begins is the best Batman movie ever made. TDK is the best Batman villain movie ever made. Rises is the best Bruce Wayne movie ever made. I think each film is fantastic by itself but the trilogy brings it all together for the central character, each bringing something new to the table.
While I do love the TDK Trilogy, my main gripe with Batman/Bruce Wayne is how he doesn't take either Joker or Bane as actual serious threats until it's almost too late. IMO, Batman, who is just about ALWAYS the smartest man in the room with a plan for everything wouldn't do that.
Joker: "One man or the entire mob? He can wait."
Bane: " Ras al Ghul was the league of shadows and I beat him, Bane is JUST a mercenary"
Where as, he took Ras very serious in Batman Begins and I would even say the slight possibility of Joker being a threat serious at the very end of Begins with taking the card and telling Gordon "I'll look into it," instead of the alternate scenario of giving the card back to Gordon saying "nah, he can wait."
