DX15 still looks more angry but I still prefer the newer sculpt by just a bit!

I'm interested in getting mine just to compare to the DX06. Looking at my DX06, it still looks great to me.

But I remember thinking the DX07 Bespin Luke was great, and I didn't need the DX24, but comparing those two side by side now, the DX07 didn't age well.

TBA is great. Four days from Hong Kong to Germany. And absolutely top packaging. Sideshow is nothing compared to that.

Great analysis, and I never quite thought about it in that way, structurally. I do like it better than Stranger Tides (which for me is the worst) but I have to agree on all your points.

Truthfully, like most, only the first two films are great -- I even find the 3rd, AWE, tedious to plod through until the final battle.

Yeah I did a rewatch of all of them couple years ago and I started to check out during AWE, started to check my phone and stuff, and that’s how I know lol… but my eyes were glued again during the final act. The first two are the only actually great Pirates films, I agree.

The third film does meander quite a bit but I still enjoyed the darker tone, world building, and how everything was wrapped up. The maelstrom fight and the final confrontation between the heroes and villains was so well done on many levels.

The scene where Jones stabs Will is one of my all time favorite conclusions to a villain and one of the best moments in the franchise for Jack. He's been chasing Jones' heart so he can become immortal and sail the seven seas forever, and even betrayed multiple people, including Will, to do so. Yet when Will is stabbed, his heart sinks, he can't come up with any witty remark to Jones' blatant display of cruelty. It's one of the most human moments for Jack, and ultimately he decides to sacrifice his dream of eternal freedom to save his friend. Nothing in OST and DMTNT matched this moment.

Also, for the millionth time, I really need a Davy Jones figure, c'mon Howard! It's crazy to watch that clip and remember I watched this in theatres in 2007 and it still holds up!

No, yeah I enjoy it. It’s not like I’m saying it’s sh*t lol. I love the conclusion to the trilogy.

And between the three first films, I love AWE’s OST the most.

It only seems to be the artisan version which is down to the dye in the hair. Yes it's an issue hopefully they fix this by covering the heads.

The DX hats are going up in the aftermarket! DX06 hat is $119! Also I really hate the vest with printed buttons but seems like a ball ache to take off all the belts and swap it out!

If that be the case I have a DX06 hat (or two) I'll sell for $100 shipped OBO

I stuck with the DX06 I prefer that movie as the only one that's REALLY good, but the new paint apps look great on the NON-Artisan.

Rooted hair is just not improving sculpts if that makes sense.

Wow, that is crazy $$ for the hat which will probably need some tweaking on the Artisan anyway. I have been seeing all of these pictures and reviews of the Artisan, and I can definitely see improvements in the coat and belts but still not impressed with the sculpt. The eyes bother me, the overall structure of the face, and the rooted dreads are a tad large thus throwing off the proportions a bit on the head, thus the enlogated headsculpt and large bandanna. I was planning on selling the DX15 but cannot after a careful and long analysis. I am still getting the Artisan but plan to display him without the coat and hat, and going for the smirk. I still think the DX15 wins in the overall look in my opinion. I think for the Artisan, we need to wait for a custom hat if you want to go that route, do not pay these insane $$. Here's my DX15 with that hat.

Correct, the serious sculpt on the DX15 is still better. Though the more I see of the smiling sculpt on the Artisan the more I'm starting to like it. Will definitely try to pick that up parted out.

I mistyped there. The only movie I liked was the 1st which was good, the others were passable.

No they haven't. Only company that did CotBP Jack was Medicom.

As iconic as his look with the hat is, I don’t think I’d pose him with it on anyway. If I went with the sculpted option maybe, but with the Artisan sculpt I wouldn’t want cover up the hair at all. I like the look of the new hat though, so I’ll probably just have it posed on the wheel.

While I agree that the neutral sculpt could've been better, I still think the smiling sculpt on the new Jack is by far their best attempt at a Depp likeness, I will be immediately switching the sculpt to it when I get mine. Besides Jack's such an expressive character that I feel like neither the new neutral sculpt or the serious DX15 sculpt capture his essence. It just so happens that the serious sculpt on the DX15 looked really good, while with the new Jack it's the exact opposite.

Yeah, agree as well, though here the sculpted bandanna and dreads give his face a tigher look, which also helps. The second pic's eye position does capture the character insanely well.
