Glad I didn't waste picking up new boots to get "leather" ones. I actually put DX06 boots on my figure, the DX15 material is too stiff and I couldn't get them to look how I wanted, always liked the DX06 boots though.

Hey, TA.
Would you say that all belts on the lates Jack are real leather? I mean the 3 belts plus the bandolier.
Difficult to believe that the wide snake belt is real leather. Is it really?
Thx.
The alligator belt (snake belt as you call it) is not real leather.
The other two waist belts are real leather.
The “bandolier” is not real leather

Ok, thanks.
How are you telling the difference?

BTW does anyone know the link to one of Jack's belts?
Not https://toyanxiety.com/potc-dead-men-tell-no-tales-dx38-jack-sparrow-deluxe-belt-w-fur-light-brown, nor https://toyanxiety.com/potc-dead-men-tell-no-tales-dx38-jack-sparrow-deluxe-belt-snake-skin/, but the other one.

Thx again.

Picked up some parts from TA as well. Head/faces, body, boots, baldric, belts and coat for me. These will be used to upgrade my DMC/AWE custom. I’ll probably regret spending all this money when/if HT end up making a cannibal Jack 2.0, but that’s future G’s problem :lol

I’m hoping that TA somehow part out another DX15 down the road so I can get the base with the zombie sharks.

Definitely not suede bud. Check under the boot cuff you'll see how it looks it's definitely fabric, then check and feel the sword belt from the inside that's suede leather.

It’s a real shame about the boots not being real leather. I was under the impression they were suede as well until I looked under the bell/cuff and the backside reveals that they are just fabric. But, the fabric feels better than that of the one used on DX15 boots.

this is what I’m planning to do with my “collector’s edition” Jack. Going to strip it down to be an OST figure. Just put the hairpiece from the DX06 on it, along with using the unfortunately oversized DX06 hands.

This is the video I always use when tying the sash :hi5:

HT told us in the the product description which ones are real leather and which ones aren’t. Knowing that, having the figure in hand, it’s pretty evident
Justin states in his review that the bandolier was upgraded to leather, which together with the leatherwork, is quite a surprise. Can anyone comfirm?

I see it now. Thanks.
Those boots look like fabric. Are they actual leather?
Thx.
Boots are not real leather. See previous posts above. They are normal fabric

He also said the boots were suede leather which is not true.

Granted, the backing of the baldric (bandolier as you say) seems like real leather, but the surface doesn’t. Interested to hear what others think as well

Keep in mind, ultimately, any of us can only make an educated guess in many cases, short of the manufacturer coming out and confirming it themselves.

Justin gives great looks at figures, but makes plenty of comments that aren't accurate, so just because he states something, doesn't make it factual.

I don’t care for it to be 100% accurate. The vest, as you said, would need to be completely different and that’s just not doable. I’m just using the photo as a general reference to get the figure down to a cleaner and simpler look. Stock figure is just too busy. The x tattoo on the face doesn’t bother me either.

I’m viewing the figure as a general one all be all Jack Sparrow. Not really tied to a specific look that needs to be fully accurate.
In that vein, I’ll be doing the same. Good idea to remove certain things to make it less busy. To achieve a silhouette that’s closer to the original trilogy looks.

That is definitely the easiest option and relatively satisfying one.

You could make an accurate OST/DMTNT figure from the three DX figures, go through extreme custom work to create a Curse or DMC/AWE version, or make a "best of version"

For me, "best of" was the route that was easiest and most affordable and satisfying.

My favorite look is DMC/AWE, and my figure encompasses that with just a few details off that I'm ok with. The X scar doesn't bother me much on the figure, and while the dongle on his bandana isn't the same, at least the DMTNT one is on the proper side and looks closer to his original than the ugly OST one, and the bandana color is nice. I've actually come to like the longer dreads, I feel like it looks more unkempt than his wig in DMC/AWE. I also don't mind the pattern on the vest too much in figure form, it almost looks more dirty than like an ornate pattern compared to the film costume.

Would I like to see HT make an actual DMC/AWE version and have a fully accurate version, sure, but I've made my peace with the situation being what it is and I love my figure of Jack. It took me going from NECA 12" Jack to Medicom to Hot Toys MMS to DX06 to DX15 to finally DX37/8/9 to finally have a figure that truly represents Captain Jack Sparrow as my love for the character thinks of him. It's been a long journey, and like Jack in Curse, having the Pearl wheel coming back into my collection is so exciting. As nicely done as the DX15 base is, it doesn't hold the same meaning for the character as the wheel, I have hated not having it ever since I had to sell my DX06 custom, and the after market prices have never worked for me.

I definitely wish I could be ok with a "best of" look. It would make my life a lot easier and less expensive at the current moment :lol
