I'd be curious to see what it would look like trying to get the back roll accurate. I'd be interested in a real leather hat if it was accurately done, but how you do the back portion changes the overall look from the front, which is why HTs hats always look saggy and droopy.

as novel as a real leather hat sounds, i dont think its the answer at this scale. Jacks hat has character and shape to it that i doubt can be achieved in real leather at this size...and if possible it would take a craftsman and skill...and that translates to more money!

So... about the hat

MMS42 style
DX15 size
make with leather

is this everyone wants?
MMS42 works in style and size

Real leather if it works, but a recast of the MMS42 hat would probably be fine, too.

Here's a pic from @Hologram AI of the Artisan figure with the MMS42 hat

This figure has been such a money pit for me I swear. Should’ve waited lol.

But maybe the actual MMS42 hat will still be better since it’s sculpted and not leather where it’s harder to replicate. I’m curious to see how this turns out

Finally had a chance to swap in the new leather belts, so glad I have them, because this was the fate of the DX15 belts. Just undoing them ripped up the pleather coating, so I just finished it off.

I also had a chance to swap out coats. Before I paint the new one, I wanted to make sure the difference from my DX15 felt worth the work, and in my opinion, it does, much better fit.

Oooh. So painting the DX38 coat more muted greyish?

Yes, it's what I did with my previous DX coats, but it's a lot of work so I wasn't going to do it for nothing haha
Sounds labor intensive lol

In regard to the color of the coat, is this a case of prop vs screen accuracy? Cause in this still from AWE, the coat appears more brown. His dreadlocks as well.

For me it's going for screen appearance. There's no point in any of the films where Jack's coat had the Hershey's chocolate brown tone that the HT jackets are made in.

I go for a warm gray.
