The urge to now pop the eyes out of the DX15 sculpt and add them to the DX38.
The darker (“UV contact lenses”) eyes make a huge difference.

Man, it’s tough. The modded DX38 sculpt is much more realistic and it looks pretty. The likeness is better, albeit not perfect. Contrast to the stock DX15 where I think the likeness is still stronger but lesser quality and realism. This is reminding me of the same scenario with the DX09 vs the MMS692/693 ‘89 Batman. IMO, the DX09 is the stronger sculpt overall (more accurate cowl details and better mouth-plate likeness), but it’s dated compared to the new one.

While the angles and such are not the same, I feel like the DX15 has a bit more stern intensity to the face, where the DX37/8/9 is more neutral, I see value in having both heads around, which is why I'm looking around to buy another DX15 smirking to take apart for the eyes to upgrade my DX37/8/9 neutral face.

Now this is tough.

Alright, so which is the better hat? Enterbay or MMS42?

As far as hats go, the right hat is a matter of personal preference. When DX15 came out and I needed a new hat, I went looking for the MMS42 and Medicom RAH hats for mine because I prefer the symmetry of it, the silhouette it creates, etc. Back when we only had the first 3 movies, the look of Jack's hat was pretty much defined by Curse or World's End, he barely had enough in Dead Man's Chest for that movie to leave an impression, and for quite awhile, that meant Curse was the only real reference, and I find that it had a pretty uniform shape throughout that movie. I have never liked how in World's End, the hat has like 100 different shapes throughout because the material they used would fold and bend in different ways from scene to scene and I found it to often look ugly.

For me the worst hat though is On Strange Tides, and only because it looks nothing like Jack's hat in the first 3 movies, the front is too upright and firm, like a brand new hat fresh from the store.

My second favorite hat look is DMTNT. It's a bit more on the pristine side like OST, but the weathering and overall look feel the closest to the Curse hat of all the sequels.

after seeing more of the Enterbay hat, looks like I fu*ked up in going with the MMS42.

The Enterbay hat has more character and kinks in the hat, and the finish is better out the box too, looks more lived in, like the real deal. The only thing I don’t really like is the unsightly mould line running through the front of the hat. What is that? The MMS hat is too “perfect” in its design, which is a bit more reminiscent of how the tricorne hat is supposed to look like in DMTNT.

If you decide to part with your MMS hat, please let me know.

How easy is it putting the DX38 eyes back together?
As you noted, getting to the eyes in a DX15 head is some measure of work because you have to remove the entire housing for the neck joint and eye controls, but on DX37/8/9, they're just sockets to pop in.

The challenge I ran into is popping the new eyes into the head immediately after removing the current eyes. The material was soft enough were you could find yourself bulging the eyes out if you pop them into far. I don't know if you let the head fully cool, how easy popping in would be at that point. I just redid the one eye I was having issues with a few times until it was right.
