Queen Studio, you really started something. Hot Toys running scared, hope on the 1/6 forums.

Queen : But?

We still haven't picked up the TDK Joker or half the figures promised.

Queen : You will. We *can* bring 1/6 collectibles back.

What about escalation?

Queen : Escalation?

We start buying rooted hair figures, they (HT) start making 3.0's or 4.0's . We start spending thousands, they make even more expensive figures..

Queen : And?

And you're making works of art. Reasonable pricing. Now, take this guy.

Double homicide, great dancer, has a taste for the theatrical. Leaves cigarette butts.

Queen: I'll look into it.

I never said thank you.

Queen: And you'll never have to.

🤭
What about releasing just one rooted version?

Queen: One version or the entire line, it can wait.

When Hot Toys hears about this they'll want in.

Queen: Do you trust them?

Hard to say with that Peacemaker and Ock, but they did say they're fixi-

What if a week from now HT revealed Joker 3.0. Two heads, one sculpted hair & one rooted hair, likeness is bang on just like QS 1/4 and all the goodies from the 2.0 set and the grenade rig. $400

How would everyone feel?

I’ve had a rooted sculpt done by Owen since 2015. It’s not frizzy or anything. Looks the same since I got it. If you handle it poorly, it’ll of course start to fall apart but that can be said for anything. Also for rooted hair, it’s very open to being adjusted by yourself with some water or hair product on your finger tips.
"Christ honey, this again? Again?! I'm not 'playing with my dolls', I'm just doing their hair so that the locks won't get frizzy, okay?!"

I would feel fine because that is never ever going to happen.

I would probably be checking into a hospital to try and get off whatever drugs were making me hallucinate that badly ;)

People who will say they wouldn't have second thoughts are lying lol, just before QS announced their Joker everyone was saying they wouldn't pay more than $600 and now here is everyone considering dropping over $1000, if Hot Toys puts out a Joker with more accessories, dead on likeness, and a cheaper rooted version there will be a lot people regretting putting in a PO with Qs but then again what are the chances Hot Toys does all that when they can just put out more mediocrity and reissues, giving their best only when they want to?

Never, ever? I never thought I'd see Golden Girls action figures but here we are.

Besides, this is more of a thought experiment.
Thought experiments only work if there is any remote semblance that they will actually happen though right? :)

But if it did happen I would objectively study it and if I thought there was any chance it would be better I would buy it and just sell off the QS version.

Anime truly has a gif for everything.

I'd just take it as a sign from God that I really am not made for this hobby...

Rooted Reinhard, now that'd be a grail figure...

This is what I did. Two years ago, I made a list of Star Wars and Marvel characters I wanted to have, and I've limited myself to that list. I made an exception for ARC Jesse because Hot Toys completely caught me off guard there, but outside of that, I've stuck to it. Can't keep buying for the sake of buying.
This is probably pure coincidence, but exactly the same happened to me. I didn't make a list of SW characters I want, but I do have a small selection of characters I want/have (which are 6), and I don't stray further than that. ARC Jesse came out of nowhere, and he really took me back to the mid 2000s with the CW series and my love for the ARC design back then, so I had to order him. He's actually my most anticipated preorder.

I tried a list as well but it got too long and I gave up. I **really** need to narrow my parameters.

Eh, if HT releases something a few months down the line after this, I think I'd just get out of the 1/6th hobby. Give us the options at the start, not after we've invested money into another version. That type of competition would just not be fun as a collector at all.
