People who will say they wouldn't have second thoughts are lying lol, just before QS announced their Joker everyone was saying they wouldn't pay more than $600 and now here is everyone considering dropping over $1000, if Hot Toys puts out a Joker with more accessories, dead on likeness, and a cheaper rooted version there will be a lot people regretting putting in a PO with Qs but then again what are the chances Hot Toys does all that when they can just put out more mediocrity and reissues, giving their best only when they want to?

I'm sure "a lot of people" might regret it, but I'm all out of patience for HT to finally just get the sculpt right.

I'm going to watch the will foxification interview later, and if that's good, I'm all in. No regrets. HT has had roughly 14 years to get it right, no more second chances as far as I'm concerned.

This killed me. 😆

I had no idea what it was so I had to look it up.

Ok but hear me out, what if they include an articulated realistic tongue?!

I tried a list as well but it got too long and I gave up. I **really** need to narrow my parameters.
Same here. I started with "must haves", gave into the "well, they'd complete the set"s, and now I'm at the hundreds... Granted, lots of them are imaginery hypotheticals that will never happen (companies are just lining up to make a 400$ figure of an unknown character from the 2000AD books...), but still. I have some rough parameters and a "list", but it's not "strict".

It's the main reason why a part of me wants to go all-rooted, but it's just not feasible as a collection from my POV. At least not now. Maybe I'll sit it out another 7 years and wait for the rooted to become the standard, then face another crisis when they start rolling out glass eyes and realistic sweat particles...

I'm a quality over quantity collector, and don't want my display to get cluttered (I'm now at a one figure per shelf display), but it does take self control. Realizing that I don't need physical representations of everything that I like, and getting rid of my completion obsession over the years helped along the way.
Limited finances, or rather the preference to spend money on other things instead (family, mortgage, travelling, etc.) does help as well though. I'd definitely go for the DX rooted Joker set if I had the expendable dough right now. As is, I'll "settle" for the regular.

I was surprised to read a few posts ago that you only have a handful of (1/6) figures, so it sounds like you're actually doing pretty well so far. ;)
In a nutshell, the main drivers for me are a general preference of minimalism over clutter, psychedelics (putting objective reality and materials things into perspective) and my wife, who doesn't like spending money on "things", which has rubbed off on me a lot.

I don’t even see why it would matter if Hot Toys announced a Joker 3.0 soon. It wouldn’t release until late 2023-2024 at this point. Their release cycle really kills the momentum and hype for a lot of their figures.
Totally. Loki was suposed to be releasing last summer, then Q1 2022, now 2023. Imagine when a new Joker could be arriving to us... Absurd.

I guess familiarity, cheaper price and international availability with additional costumer support, plus say what you will about HT but their products are always high quality with minimal to zero QC issues, Queen is just coming onto the 1/6 scene which is completely different from statues and they're making big promises, but nobody here knows how the final product will turn out which makes some hold off.

What if a week from now HT revealed Joker 3.0. Two heads, one sculpted hair & one rooted hair, likeness is bang on just like QS 1/4 and all the goodies from the 2.0 set and the grenade rig. $400

How would everyone feel?

Fantastic!

Because I'll have my Queen Joker for about a year, can sell it for twice what I bought it for... while you're still waiting for Hot Toys to deliver yours.

I've been wanting to thin my collection. I have a ton of stuff to sell but I can't be arsed to get it all together and list.
This figure has definitely put some figures I have on the chopping block. Not in order to pay for it, but about the level I want my collection to be at next. I’ve been buying a lot within the last year based on the fact that I couldn’t get some stuff while I was out of a job for about 8 months almost 3 years ago now. I’ve got about 20 on the list that are probably going to get sold within the next couple of months. I’m actually spending a lot of today putting many back in their boxes

I mean in terms of actual availability, it wouldn’t really clash with Queens Joker, at least for me. Say Queens version releases Q1 of next year at the latest. Hot Toys announces a Joker 3.0 within the next month. We would all have seen Queens production Joker before Hot Toys version actually releases for another year or longer. I never PO or order Hot Toys figures anymore until they actually start releasing in HK so I would be waiting to see how their production version looks like before deciding if I wanted it or not.
