I think the SS TOD is perfectly scaled, whereas the recast is a bit oversized, even though it is still a vast improvement over the DX05 (which isn't difficult!).

Don't remember anyone saying the DX05 was too small, yet it's the same size as the TOD.

I'm with you, looks right to me. Maybe it's because sideshows rotla had a giant head.

I've got 2 now that I've repainted over the battle damage. I feel like it's a good Raiders Indy, and ironically, I'm thinking of painting some battle damage on one to reflect the fight on the flying wing. I don't know, any input?

It feels to me like everyone (myself included) is trying really hard to like this sculpt.

For me it's the best-value solution cos it's good to go out-of-the-box. It's not worth the extra investment to have the TOD version repainted, and I don't have the expertise to do it myself.

Unless anyone can recommend some quick and easy touch-up paint?

I still can't like it, for me it's the recast hands down. I just can NOT see Ford anywhere in the SSC TOD no matter how much I try. Fixing the ears helped the recast and I think it is the best option that I could have gone for, it didn't cost me much and it was already painted way better than I could have done it, and I didn't have to pay anyone else to paint it either. That's one big fat win in my book.

I don't know, I used to always think the original SS head was gigantic, but I think a lot of that might have just been the incredibly bad paintjob. After recently repainting mine with a more natural skin tone it doesn't seem nearly as big to me anymore (and in fact I'm actually a lot happier with the proportions on my Indy now than on my Mal figure with the same sized head).

And I'm still planning to lower the hat and make the crown taller, which should hopefully improve the proportions even more (and reduce the elongated look somewhat).

Yeah that looks fantastic. The sculpt is good but sideshows paint apps were awful.

Have to agree, im not a fan of the SSCC TOD either

I want to say I'm not recasters supporter. That time I let my self to buy this, because I already have paid for origin, but it's far away at painters house for a long time, and nobody knows , when it comes back to me...So-I bought that one as replacement head till I'll receive my origin. But I need to say-it's really good done.Eyes are not so good, but otherwise I see decent Ford likeness. And size is much better as even more big MJ original sculpt.So-I boiled it for ears. Can't say is it better now, but how I said-it's nice Ford sculpt.

What it is soon going to come down to is that there may be no more Indy heads available. I don't think MJ is going to do another, has Inigo got V3 in him!? Do HT want to, will SSC give us a Last Crusade!? Jnix and Beastmaster could be the last hopes you lot have. It's a case of get what you can while you can, get it done and settle for it or you'll be waiting till forever for a head that you may never get.

After all that boiling and freezing, it turns out that MJ got his right ear exactly correct...

And the next time we'll see an Indy head it'll look more like this...

Eh, I'm sure there will be people sculpting new Indy heads for a long time to come. He's just too cool and iconic a character, and too fun a challenge to try to capture. And as we've seen in here, there's yet to be one that everyone (or hell even 90% of us) would agree is the "definitive" Indy.

Some might hope you're right, but, for a lot of these sculptors Indy is a job, not their passion or life's work. If they're spending many man hours on one and then people rip it to shreds, how much more inclined are they going to be to do another which may suffer the same fate!? They would far rather do something that everyone wants and likes and then it's onto the next one that is going to do just as well.

Indy has one more movie left in him if he's lucky, not everyone is a devoted fan and if you want to make money out of your chosen field, which in this case is sculpting, you're going to have to go with what is going to make you money, and soon it's not going to be him no matter how much his fans may insist otherwise.

They'll give you the Ripley line before long : "You threw me to the wolves, and now you want me to go back out there!?"

What trousers are those Dave? They look fantastic!

Thanks! They're just the original Sideshow pants, after a couple water treatments and after being pulled down as much as I could to create the right bagginess around the ankles. I considered getting the HT pants (to go along with the shirt and jacket), but they always looked a bit too narrow in the leg and I wasn't sure I'd be able to achieve the same effect with them.

Fantastic. I'll have to try that on mine!
