sorry to ask again guys. I am about to order a Pecard Leather Dressing, will 6 ounces be enough for 2 jackets?
Should I get the 16 ounces one?
Thanks...

6oz is more than enough. You'll only need a tiny amount. There'll be lots left over.

I don't know, I used to always think the original SS head was gigantic, but I think a lot of that might have just been the incredibly bad paintjob. After recently repainting mine with a more natural skin tone it doesn't seem nearly as big to me anymore (and in fact I'm actually a lot happier with the proportions on my Indy now than on my Mal figure with the same sized head).

And I'm still planning to lower the hat and make the crown taller, which should hopefully improve the proportions even more (and reduce the elongated look somewhat).

Excellent repaint. Do you have any closer pics?

I like that head too, but it is a quite different scale to the newer TOD SSC head - and the KOTCS and Indy German SSC Heads are yet another scale again.

It's almost like 1/7, 1/6 and 1/5 when you see the TOD, ROTLA and KOTCS SSC Indy heads side by side.

It would be interesting to see the TOD head next to the Medi Indy heads as it really does strike me as close to that size. Who knows, maybe all those years of people saying "SSC is true 1/6, Medi is too small and 1/7" had it all wrong given the ever-shrinking size of 1/6 heads these days.:dunno

Thanks, I'll try to take some closer pics tonight. And yeah the head is still a bit bigger than I'd like, but I prefer that to one that's a bit too small myself. And like you say, it's still not as big as the German or KOTCS heads appear to be (or even the alternative hatless ROTLA head which appears to be an even slightly bigger size than the hatted one for some reason).

For me the most important thing is the underlying likeness, and there are a lot of those old SSC figures (Indy, Henry Sr, Obi-Wan, Buffy, Angel, Spike, etc) which have surprisingly good sculpts under the awful and garish paintjobs, and which capture the characters and their personalities a lot better than some of the more detailed sculpts of today I think.

Yeah, that can be a problem, some stays better than others. I think it may be because the head is solid. The heat technique tends to work better on heads that are hollow.

Did you hold it in place until it was completely cool or put it in the freezer? Mine, I held in place (no freezer) and it kept the shape.

In my experience, it will slowly return to the way it was before boiling. Boiling will straighten out plastic parts that have been distorted (say by too-tight packaging) but it's not as good for taking something that was sculpted wrongly, or cast wrongly, and changing the shape. It's the plastic memory thing.

On my German Indy, I sliced the back of the ears slightly and glued them back. It is a bit finicky to do, but it works pretty well.

The German Indy head is a lot like the knock-off MJ Choi - decent likeness, slightly cartoony, ears too prominent.

I hold ears about two minutes after boiling and then put it in cold water for a minute or so.Maybe is necessary to put some holder on head after boiling to press the ears...I just can't get what.

I put him in the freezer after boiling, and I don't think the ears have moved since.

And I bet you won't be ignored either.:horror

Here's a few more pics. I know most here will probably feel he's too tanned, but I guess I've always just preferred an Indy who looks like he's been running around in a hot desert for a while (kinda like in Kuat's gif above, in fact). :D

And I gotta say, while I was originally just going to use this as a temporary placeholder, I'm honestly pretty happy with my custom the way it is now. As far as I'm concerned the likeness is at least as strong as any of the others out there right now, so until something massively better comes along I'm just gonna stick with it.

Oh and I also took a stab at modifying the SSC hat, but I can see now it probably needs a bit more refining...

That's an awesome Indy. You did justice to Trevor's sculpt. And everything else looks terrific.

yes!! I love Trevor's sculpt. LOVE IT!!! can you measure the head... and see how many 'heads' tall he is?? I'm super curious. most humans are 6 heads tall. superhero proportions are 8. I feel that most new figures are going for a more idealized proportion.

Yeah, very nice davejames. While the head has issues (size, lack of sculpt detail, slightly puffy cheeks) I do think it is probably the best Indy likeness of the lot up to now. It just looks like Raiders Indy, period.

One issue I've noticed with repaints of the SSC ROTLA heads are that they tend to go shiny after a while. One of the problems with customizing is you really need a degree in chemistry to figure out all the reactions that can occur between things.
