Re: 1/6 Mal Pistol WIP Update-8/19

that would be rad. it would be cool if you could 3D print in rubber. I would get Mals patches from the movie and Washs harness.

what company are you using? I wanted to get some stuff done.

Re: 1/6 Mal Pistol WIP Update-8/19

The place I'm using for this is Zoomrp

They have a good price for larger orders since there's an initial cost of like $45 no matter what size the object is. Then there's Shapeways which is the place I got the test prints done, they can do invididual prints, but there's a $5 fee for each print, plus they've got an issue where lines appear on the model wherever there is support material used.

Shapeways can print in many different materials, I think there's actually a way for them to print in something like cloth, but I doubt it works very well. They can even print in metal, but that gets expensive. I was thinking if I were to do the Mal coat clasps that maybe they could be printed in metal, but the only one that can print that small is Silver which costs $40 per square centimeter which is very expensive.

that shapeways place looks awesome! I might get some stuff printed! (I'll leave the firefly stuff to you)

I'm not sure 3D printing at this quality would work for things like shoes.

I was thinking maybe the dinosaurs for Wash since people were having trouble with that.

Maybe the ship engine part from Out of Gas for Kaylee

Just got my Mal pistol!!! SUUUUUU-PERB!! Lovin' the detail!

Would also like one of Jayne Cobb's modified LeMat pistols!
:clap:clap

his shoes are not very detailed and pretty simple. I think it would be better then getting someone to sculpt them.

just an idea.

Got mine and love them! thank you!

More weapons before other accessories please.

My only issue would be the lines that can appear on a print, it can be pretty OK for most things but it wouldn't look good on something like a shoe.

But--it might be possible, usually the roughness is on the parts that have support material on them, since a shoe is wider at the bottom and gets smaller up to the top, I would imagine it wouldn't really need support material for the most part.

I'll consider something like that. My plan is to do a bunch of different things all at once, then people can pick and choose what they want and do them all as one order so we don't have to do this long process for each individual thing.

Anyways, I'm surprised they're getting delivered already, well, except for Corrose, he lives 20 minutes away from me so it had better deliver quick lol

My only critique would be that the TT hands don't hold the pistol terribly well but I can mod that easy enough.

I know, I tried it out and the Sideshow pistol hands fit fine. But if you look at the position of the TT pistol hands they aren't really accurate to how you would hold a pistol, like if you try to match it with your own hand it is very unnatural. I think it might fit if you soften the hand and try to bend the lower fingers back more.

Of course it'd be possible to make the pistol fit a TT hand, but then it wouldn't be accurate.

you did a great job and I much prefer an accurate sculpt. I can resculpt a TT hand to work no prob.

thats fair. anyways, I would rather get Vera and what not first before going down the shoes road.
