Beautiful Vader, Josh! Hurricane is an amazing Vader Maker, I must say!! And congrats on finally getting Old Ben, that was very cool of MaulFan. Can't wait to see your repaint!

Speaking of Hurricane and Maulfan... Today was THE day to be in the DA house. I arrived at work today, hungover and downtrodden... My favorite team lost the most important game of the year yesterday and I was feeling it (still wore my Pats hat anyway, to prove my dedication :D). And as the mail lady came in, holding a box from the UK.

It was my ROTS Hurricane Vader, a prize of my collection. Something, as a fellow customizer, I am honored to have amongst my repainted figs. After drooling over that for a few hours and trying to work... I got home to my in laws house and what is there waiting for me?? A gift from Sean (Maulfan himself)!!

My very own Ben Kenobi. After SSC lost mine and wouldn't replace it... He very kindly offered up his extra to me, out of the kindness of his heart. And to recieve it today, after our mutual team lost the game... was a nice pick up. So here are a few shots, Cane Vader fresh out of the box and a futzed Obi...

Obi will be repainted soon, too... just have to do some catchup with commissions before I can devote myself to that.

Old Ben has made it to Colombia!
I'm extremely pleased with this figure, the sculpt, the paint apps, the outfit, everything seems quite close to looking perfect.
I do wonder why SST didn't make him with a little "belly". After all, they did make the "fat suit" for the Hogan's Heroes" figure...
Anywya, what are you guys using to achieve that?
Cloth? Cotton?

My Ben arrived today. This is one GREAT figure. Can't wait to have some time to give him a belly, do something with the undershirt and paint him.....

But I don't need to rush as this is one wonderful figure as it is!! :rock Excellent work Trev/Sideshow :bow

I padded mine with a few tissues bunched up and held to the body with an elastic. A helpful trick it to also put his belt lower on the body, as it should be to match Guinness, and then put the padding in the right place, this allows you not to stretch out the belt and pad his belly more than if the belt went over his pudge, and the belt under also creates and overlap look that helps emphasize that he's bulkier.

Yeh me too. I got the email two weeks ago saying they would ship in 7-10 days but theres no change to my order status on the Fireside site.

Had some time to futz with Ben and gave him a paunch last night.
This figure is beautiful.

I'm extremely happy. And the fact that I took time to futz old Ben having HT's fantabulous P2 Elder Pred arrive at the same time says a lot about the coolness of old Ben...

SST are definitely improving a lot on their figures and that is great news for all of us.

One small detail that made me smile was the fact that both Ben and Leia's boots are finally made in a much softer plastic. It was about time.

After much going back & forth I decided to give SSC another go and having received the figure this morning from Play.com it appears I made the right choice. I've been a big critic of the quality of SSC's 1/6 Star Wars line and while Obi-Wan isn't enough to change my overall opinion I will give them credit for hitting the mark on this particular occasion.
