at this point now,its time they get a bit away from Cobra and start doing Good Joes.....Snowjob,Shipwreck and Gung-ho are 3 that must be made priority (wishful thinking on Mutt and Junkyard)...Scarlet is likely around the corner now that the female body is done.

Cobra will have possibly 5 straight releases

Major Bludd
Cobra Commander
Baroness
Destro
Buzzer

I want to see MORE good joes...

Honestly,I also think Tomax and Xamot should be next years SDCC exclusive set

Can't wait for a Gung-ho with a shirt covering his small prometheus body chest instead of having a muscle body and chest tat! :yess:

I think it's pretty clear that this is the Gung Ho we'll be getting.

As the official distributor of Hot Toys for North America, it surprises me that Sideshow hasn't just worked out a deal to have HT provide the bodies for their in-house lines, or at least use them for certain releases where the entire body isn't covered (Destro, Gung Ho, etc.) Look at the tattoos that HT has done for Whiplash and Barney Ross, they could easily provide a body for Gung Ho that didn't look like crap.

I'd pay more for those releases knowing they used Hot Toys bodies if I knew ahead of time that I wouldn't have to spend more to upgrade the body myself.

Maybe they don't want to open that can of worms. If SSC collectors realized they could be having Hot Toys quality bodies, would they be as accepting of crummy Pros in the future? Could also be a cost issue. Only way the development/use of the Pros makes sense is that it is more cost effective for SSC that way. I think the SSC Joes are ridiculously overpriced for what you get as-is. If they outsourced the bodies and jacked up the price another $30 or so, then it could hurt sales.

There is nothing wrong with the Destro figure.

It is perfect.

It is the spot-on representation of the original Hasbro figure.

There will be no more complaining.

K80, always there to rain on my parade. :1-1:

The old Marvel comics made the Cobra "ranking structure" much more clear.

Cobra Commander - Supreme leader/ Dictator
Baroness - 2nd in command
Destro - Contracted Weapons supplier, and designer. Occasional Mercenary. Frequent Military Advisor due to his own personal military background expierence. Completely outside the cobra power structure.
Stormshadow - Cobra Commander's Bodyguard. Completely outside the Cobra Power structure.
Tomax and Xamot - Leaders of the Crimson Guard. Akin to a General. Also head of the "buisness side" of Cobra. this includes money laundering.
Firefly - Mercenary. frequently hired, but completely outside the Cobra Power structure
Zartan - Mercenary. frequently hired, but completely outside the Cobra Power structure
Major Bludd - Mercenary. frequently hired, but completely outside the Cobra Power structure, But Frequently put in charge of cobra troops.

In fact, during the Cobra Civil War ( which ended when Zartan kills Serpentor, for the record), destro takes his private army, the Iron Grenadiers, and invades Cobra Island. setting up on the beach.. gets a lawnchair, and a drink with a tiny umbrella, and simply watches the crazy. He and his forces ONLY intervene to rescue the Baroness, whom he then takes with him as he leaves, going back to Scotland.

Stay thirsty, my friend.

Zartan kills Serpentor
Re-quoted because it is such a great thing.

Yeah, Hama was good about maintaining a semblance of realism to the organizational/bureaucratic stuff. His attention to detail and really, just making things make sense, made the Joe comic stand out.

worst comes to worst i am going to just put him on a klaustic body, take the black shirt off, tuck jacket in pants (same thing i did with firefly) beef up his belt, clear gem necklace, and add radio. but i hope they change the material , flat leather and cloth red on the inside. no red fuzzy material wanted.

Sorry I thought you were talking about transplanting the destro head onto a ttm20.

That's not the issue. The issue is the neck "collar" and having it look good with an exposed chest.

Glad to see Sideshow if finally disappointing GI Joe fans like they've been disappointing SW fans for years :lol

You weren't here for Firefly? :lol And Joe fans don't nitpick Stormtrooper teeth and eyebrow hair.

Well at least all the Star Wars dolls look like the characters.

Destro and Jabba the Hutt both debuted in 1983. Maybe SSC can release a black Jabba with a bathrobe and little frog necklace. They've got to keep with the times right? Not be slaves to that 80's nonsense right?

Hell, why not make a deal with Kaustic? While not as good as HT's, they're considerably better than the Pros.

This BLOWS away Sideshow's. Neck is a bit long though but the head is near perfect.

Does it? That's really the Destro figure you would want on your shelf next to all (if you actually have any) your other Sideshow Joes? Sorry, but not me. Look, I appreciate the bash, and I appreciate people that love the original card art. But this line is different. Sideshow would be doing a serious disservice to those of us who have purchased the 20-plus Joe and Cobra figures by releasing card art accurate versions right in the middle of the line. They'd have to revamp the line completely, otherwise the new figures would look totally out of place.

Maybe SSC's to proud of themselves to do such a move, that they'd leave that to the smaller fishes in the ocean such as Asmus? But yeah, that would have been great idea especially for characters such as Destro and Gung Ho. SSC's creeping up to Hot Toys prices, but their recent product previews are so bad I passed on them despite liking the license/characters -- Vader and Cobra Commander.

This could be another $175 figure or higher. Barney Ross came in at a slightly higher price but has more than twice the quality SSC's offering lately, from base body to headsculpt to tailoring and accessories.

I'd rather have Ski's custom Destro than Sideshow's that looks like a homosexual bondage party gimp. :nana:

I guess to many of us here, Robbie pretty much summed it up:

For me its not about whether or not it looks like the original. Its about how weak of execution of the figure seems to be. I know people didn't like Firefly when it showed, but it still looked like a quality figure.

Many of us have welcomed the upgrades/modernizations done by SSC. Both Zartan and Firefly had undergone a lot of artistic/creative license-induced changes, but are both great-looking figures as is (of course there are those who still modded them to card art accuracy). This Destro is just lame in design, and execution so far.

:exactly:

It looks like a 2008 figure not 2013.
