Well, he looks best from far away. At least that can said. :lol Seriously though, I think the head is poor, but for $150 I'd get it. The jacket looks like poo in some shots too, but I think something can be done about it. Overall, for $150, and the head can be replaced eventually, it beats putting together a custom, like evilface said.

So, from what I gather, the head will have to be repainted, and the body will have to be replaced. All things considered, the clothes at least look passable

I dunno even from a distance I think it only looks slightly like Kurt Russell. It just looks like a really poor imitation of him which unfortunately it is.

For the jacketed look, if you want double jointed elbows, a different body would be needed.

Do SSC heads fit on HT bodies? I dunno if those big ass lapels can be futzed to look smaller.

I don't think the SSC heads will fit by default (you'll probably have to use a neck connector of some kind?). Those lapels will definitely have to be cut or something, they look awful.

Been waiting for the piece since it was announced way back. Pre ordered the ex on day one and I still don't see what all the fuss is about. I could take numerous pictures of my hot toys with high/strong lighting and they would look like crap. As for the head sculpt we all know how that goes. I remember Hot toys resident evil, babydoll, wolverine, terminator, captain america, thor head sculpts all looked great till in hand. I bought the dx indy back in the day because I'm a huge fan and I'll keep snake because I love the movie. The head might not look 100% but lets be honest even with hot toys alot of there head sculpts are off also. And Like evil face said "looks good enough" and from him thats a thumbs up. Sideshow snake plissken *EVIL FACE APPROVED*
What that guy said...

Mine is being shipped so I'll be able to make a better assessment once in hand. But after looking at the sculpt and stills of Kurt Russell in the role, I think what throws this sculpt off is the mouth. If you look at Kurt Russell's mouth, the reason why he seems to have a pronounced chin is because he has a smaller mouth. And he definitely doesn't have the Arnold lips. The brow looks to be about right; The right eye lid angles downward in a similar fashion (and could be slightly enhanced better with a bit more paint); The jaw line seems to fit the overall shape and curvature. And his cheekbones and nose seem to be pretty darn close. So I think they made his mouth too wide and his lips too big. That seems to be where the sculpt (for me) leaves the tracks. So I doubt any kind of repaint could fix what is fundamentally flawed in the sculpt. But I do agree with what many have said here. It's close enough to add to the collection. I'm going to do a repaint on the right eye and eyelid region. I think that can be flushed out better. I may go ahead and try something on the mouth just to play around with it. But I'm not sure you can paint down the lips and sell the illusion convincingly enough. We'll see what happens.

I guess I'm in the minority but so far I like what I've seen. I may repainted it for a less "plastic" look but I can only see a EFNY Kurt when I see it.

How is the body anyway? As far as detail goes it doesn't look as good as others on the market, but is it sturdy/well made?

Jack's description from yesterday is exactly the way I would describe it:

Opened him up and first impression without taking him out is that it's a good figure. The head sculpt isn't as bad as the pics have portrayed. The jacket is something that as off as it is to the source material it's something that can be worked with. Once I took him out of the box there are some issues. The
elbow joints were tight enough that I thought I was going to break them, but tight is better than loose. The knee joints creak. The boots are soft. It's frustrating to get him to stand. His ass crack.
I'll try to get some pics if I can get him to stand.

I really thought that my elbows were going to break, though in fairness, I thought the EXACT same thing when I bought Hot Toys' Tony Stark The Mechanic last month. Also, the shoulders and elbows use a ratcheting hinge. I'm not a big fan of that design, since it makes fine-tuning poses more difficult, but the arms have a very limited range of movement to begin with. There is very little shoulder range forward and back. I haven't looked at his tattoo, because I really don't care about it, to be honest, plus since his clothes are very form-fitting, there's no need to redress the figure.

Snake's pants fit his legs well, but the waist is quite loose. That's why so many have commented on his plumber's ass. And the tradeoff of the well-fitting legs and (sigh) crotch mean that Snake won't be getting into many deep poses. The good thing is that Snake looks pretty good just standing there, so the point is moot, I guess. However, I would've really liked (for a change) for Sideshow to have included those 'other' feet that I never, ever use, which would make my favorite Snake picture a possibility (if ONLY!!):

I think the figure turned out pretty bad, but not hopelessly bad. Looks like he needs work done from top to bottom, no way is he gonna look "decent" out of the box. I guess what's done is done, no way going around how incomplete this figure is. I'll get him at $150 tops. :lol

I've spent some time comparing the sculpt to pics of Russell as well and I have to disagree about the lips. In some shots Kurt's lips look a little smaller but in others they look identical to the figure. I think it has a lot to do with his expression and the paint on the sculpt. I do agree about the eye sculpt, it's what's throwing off the likeness most. The brow needs to be a little heavier and cover more of the upper portion of the eye to create that squint Russell has.
