I got my Hammerhead today and I have to say this is the first Star Wars 1/6th I am tryley disappointed in. The head is such flimsey rubber, and hollow, I'm afraid to let it get warmer in the house the 80 or it will melt. We deserved much harder plastic for the money paid for this doll. For the first time, I really have to say this one was not worth the cost.

Wow...guess there had to be somebody who wasn't impressed after all the praise...

You posted a good shot of him anyway! :)

I'm also thinking that the idea here was to have a material that would handle the sculpt and paint with good detail and be light enough so that the figure would stand and display well. Judging from the pictures in here (including yours), it looks like Sideshow succeeded perfectly (I'll know myself later this week when the Ithorian braves the frigid northeast and joins my collection).

One figure from earlier in the collection might've benefited from this lighter material...Jedi Kit Fisto. His tentacled head is great looking, but so heavy that he topples easily without a stand. If Sideshow avoided this with Hammerhead by using a durable, lighter material, I'm all for it. It's not about being cheap, it's about engineering...

Can't wait to get this guy....more pictures please!

It makes sense that they use a lighter plastic. A solid/ heavy plastic would weigh the head down.

Great pic! This figure is a homerun in my book -and I havn't even received mine yet!

Yep, the hollow head was a great design choice. The weight of a solid resin sculpt would have been way too much.

And as far as it being so flexable, well, it just isn't a big deal as long as it retains it's shape over time. The fact that it's bendy means it won't break easily like if it were ridgid and thin. Value wise I don't think it detracts at all either.

My only nit with him is the wrists. They aren't that articulated. They twist in the forearm but only move up and down at the wrist. No side to side articulation. Very different from their other figures.

One of my favorite figures ever is hollow.

I don't give a damn how heavy it is, just that it looks good!

I love my jabba and yes he is hollow, I just don't like that Hammerhead's head can bend around so easily. I have been a HUGE supporter of Sideshow (I just got my Red Cobra Ninja today also and he's awesome), I just think a little firmer plasitc would have been in order.

Anyway like some of you are saying... it's just a cup. There's no need to call the Better Business Bureau..."Help my action figure didn't come with his cup!" :cuckoo:

It would be funny if someone had that kind of fit. I would throw rocks at them.

I just went back in time and convinced Sideshow to change the head to solid AND lower the cost. When I got back to the present, however, the complaints from collectors who couldn't keep their heavy heads erect were so loud (and so full of inappropriate ambiguity ;) ) that I went back in time again and switched it back to normal. Trust me. We're all better off.

:clap:clap:clap

Good man.

I think you mean a glass action suit. :D

But seriously, Sideshow has a history of making mistakes like this and just trying to gloss over them. Like when they accidentally mixed up the exclusive and normal Han Solo blasters and then retroactively changed the website to reflect their mistake.

Or the Tactical Containment Unit zombie with the green skin. :gah:

I just got Hammerhead and he is AWESOME!
The quality of detail with Greedo and Hammerhead seems to be getting better and better. Great job Sideshow!

A response from SSC regarding the missing cup.

"Thank you for your email. We appreciate your interest in our products and the time you took to contact our Customer Service Department.
I am sorry for any confusion regarding the Hammerhead Figure. The list of accessories on the product’s web page have been updated, as the figure does not come with a beverage cup.

Please let me know if I can assist you further!"

My response:
"Thanks so much for your response! While the cup certainly isn't a deal-breaker for me (it's a beauitfully made figure, and I look forward to owning it!), I think you'll agree that changing the description of a product AFTER the company has sold it (pre-orders, etc) is disingenuous, and I hope it's not a sign of a changing dynamic within a company that has always done right by it's loyal customers.

The missing cup has been the subject of much confusion among the online collecting community. While this particular item hasn't caused much ire, I would not count on that being the case with future releases. I suggest that, if SSC does not wish to correct this mistake, they need to at least make sure their customers know in advance of payment that the description of the product they pre-ordered has changed, and allow them to decide if they still want the product.

I want to be totally clear that I'm not chiding customer service for this. You guys have always taken good care of me, and I hope I've conveyed my thanks to you! I'm a satisfied customer with a stake in the future greatness of a wonderful company. Thanks for all the hard work you put in, and for reading my little diatribe."

It's just a cup, guys. I know tat. It doesn't lessen a great figure. But I worry about the next figure that comes mysteriously missing an accessory that some may consider integral.

They should probably make a statement or offer to send out missing cups. I mean, NECA sent out those little throwing stars on their Ninja Gaiden release a few years back. The figure didn't really need them, but it was good PR on their part.

Given the price on these items from Sideshow, that'd be you know, excellent service and all.

I wouldn't want them to put themselves out on account of it. As long as they get the wake up call to plan their accessory lists more accurately in the future, it's all good.

Just got mine as well and completely agree that this is a great figure. What's more is that Hammerhead is a great piece of engineering of the Pro body. SS did a great job incorporating the alien arms, legs, feet and head into the pro and did a good job "hiding" the joints with the clothing. Another really nice feature that impressed me--and I didn't see mentioned in this thread--is the head has a full range of motion and can be posed in just about any position, not just turned side to side, which I had expected.

Well written response, Mikey. Also, it does state on the box itself that it includes a cup. Changing included cup on the site, you fool me; not being able to change included cup on the box, I catch you! :)

It would be good pr to send out the "missing" cup.

Nice response Mike. Their response to you however is very disheartening seeing that it's such a minor item, to totally blow it off by simply changing the item description after the item has shipped is so lame.

The future of Sideshow?

I'm guessing that the cup, which they should have plenty of from the Cantina sets, cost maybe a nickel to make, I wonder how much we were charged $2. - $5 bucks extra for it?

I still sent my email, hoping for a replacement. Maybe we can persuade Sideshow to change their mind and do what they used to do best, be loyal to their fans.

That was a "canned" corporate response if I ever heard one.

I think a whole baggy full of cups would cost a nickel to make.:wink1:

I'm sure they'd be happy to send a cup out if you "called" and made a stink about it.

The funny thing is is that no one knows what the planned cup looked like. It could have been the same one that came with Bib Fortuna for all we know. They must have a lot of cantina cups sitting around somewhere.:monkey1
