I don't think I can mention how Sideshow is going about the lit saber for Obi-Wan, but it won't work for Grievous. I know cause I painted Obi-Wan. You'll understand when you see Obi. It's actually pretty brilliant, but I think some people will complain about it for one certain reason (which will remain unmentioned) that has nothing to do with how cool it will look. If Grievous's sabers do light up, it will have to be some other way, and then many of the above mentioned concerns (not applicable to Obi-Wan) may be a problem.

Last I heard about the delay on Grievous is that China is having a hell of a time replicating my proto paint job.:lol I for one am EXTREMELY curious how the final product is going to look. I also can't wait to see the four-arm version and one of the only extras I know about.

Don't bother asking, I can't say any more.:nono

awesome to hear some info! thanks alot SS! :hi5:

I hope they have the 4-arm thing sorted so all that's left is the paint then he can start being POed and he can start going to into production ASAP. I want my GRIEVOUS!!!! :gah:

Still looks like a flashlight at the bottom of a tube.
and seen in person, it looks worse. hilt is too big around, and so is the blade. BUT you did address the blade. the problem is that the light source, to look right, needs to be consistent throughout.
In that, the light is extremely bright at the hilt, and gets dimmer as it reaches the tip, and that makes it looks like a 1/6th version of a hasbro roleplay toy.
the one I saw was fresh from the package, and then promptly returned to sideshow.

exactly HOW big around IS the hilt?
In proper 1:6th scale it SHOULD be .25". The flashgun used for the saber is a full 1.5" diameter.
I have yet to see a 1:6th saber that was the CORRECT size. They've all been too skinny.

That UU saber looks great to me.

I think this figure is going to be SS best figure ever if the paint job turns out nice, can't wait to have him posed with various battle droids alongside.

I was really excited about any SW figure announced and released, but I am happy to report that I've been cured!
Will not be ordering any of the prequel junk. All it took is watching the Plinkett SW reviews. After watching them, hubby and I packed up all our prequel stuff ( All except the Yoda vs Clone PF ), and they are off to ebay.
If you haven't seen any of the reviews mentioned, you OWE it to yourself, only if just for the entertainment value!
Catch them here:
Plinkett's Star Wars Reviews
They are pure gold!

Wow, you sold all your prequel stuff because of a review? You're too easy! Can I make a review how useless life savings are and how you should mail it to me? :cuckoo:

I'm thinking the lightsaber and the hand will be one, with the battery and electronic stuff all jammed in the hand part. Which makes sense that people would complain that the lightsaber is not independent of the hand, and that it wouldn't work with Grevious since his hands are too small and spindly to house the battery. Just a guess!

Anyway, I'm really looking forward to this guy. It is very frustrating that we haven't seen the pre-order yet. I know they still had a lot of kinks to work out when it was revealed at CC, but it's been almost 8 months since then!

Thanks for the update, though, Surfer. I can only imagine how complex and interesting the paint job will be! Fantastic job on the proto! :hi5:

I wouldn't mind that if they also gave you saber-less arms so you could pose him with a different number (1,2,3 or 4) sabers. Also hopefully the hands with sabers attached would still be movable and not in a static pose.

Yes, I am betting the saber and hand are one, but I'm thinking that it will be like Hot Toys Iron Man; the light and battery/wiring are in the forearm with a light in the wrist socket, firing light into the hand/saber. I'm sure they'd include a saberless hand and saber for his belt but its gonna cost us! PLEASE Sideshow, don't turn us away with your price increses! :monkey2

Well, I believe the display at SDCC listed the price at $199, so hopfully this was already priced in at that point.

I sure hope they don't go with a saber permanently part of the hand option, I hate when these companies take away our options for poses an display, and it would especially suck on a gimmick like ligt up sabers.

I would think if they do that (hand and lightsaber as one), it will just be a separate option. I think (or hope) that the figure would still include everything that the current Jedis do (unlit hilt, lit lightsaber with no light feature, all the hands, etc), plus the light up hand/lightsaber combo.
