I too vote for NO LIGHT UP SABERS. I would probably never turn them on and the blades look stupid. I don't like any light up feature. When i go to my basement room am i supposed to open up all my cabinets and turn on every light up feature before i sit down to watch TV??? I don't think so.

Why dont people want light up sabers?
Grevious would look badass with four light up sabers

I agree nice option for those who want it. I have the UU luke and it really is cool...and yes I can open up the cabinet, turn on medicom r2,3po, and uu luke...:rotfl

Few reasons.
1) it never looks good in lightsaber form if it's led driven.
2) it necessitates making the hilts a little oversized to accommodate the batteries.
3) I never use light up features in my figures more than once. Get figure, open it, turn it on once, smile, then never turn it on again. It's a wasted feature.
4) it may make any figures without them look a little odd with the thinner, more accurate sabers and blades.
5) it drives up the cost unnessacarily.

For those of you that want them, great, good for you. If sideshow insists on adding this, all I ask is they at the very least continue to make and add in ones that don't light up.
Hell, even hot toys is staying away from light up sabers, due to their inability to make them not look cheap.

Do you own the UU luke? The lightsabre is actually really well done, and I would argue in scale with the figure. Its not like the ones on e-bay at all.

:nono No light up feature please...it would just add extra unnecessary cost....IMHO

I don't think we have to deal with light up sabers yet, the comments in the interview sounded like it was still in R&D and I don't see them holding up figures over something like that, especially since Grievous has already been shown, I'm sure his delay has all to do with ensuring a stable figure when he gets to collectors.

Hopefully that's the case. Grievous would make an amazing figure and Sideshow's been knocking SW out of the park lately.

According to Brant's interview with CTR, sounds like Sideshow is exploring light up sabers for the 1/6 similar to what UU Luke came with.

Dunno how far out Ep I Obi Wan is from release, but SS is working on a light up saber for him. Once development of that saber is ironed out, I think it's a definite possibility for Grievous to include light up sabers as well (if the timing works out), and I certainly wouldn't protest it.

Seen it in person, and was not impressed. It looked like a 1/6th version of the light up kid sized telescoping sabers that they used to sell at toys r us. Bright at the bottom, dimmer as it goes out to the tip, AND the hilt looked too big.
Not quite hasbro 1/6th giant, but it still looked too big around.

I would really like it if SS was able to produce a better plastic blade on the sabers that was a more vibrant color...the blue sabers for instance just seem pale...I look at the hasbro line (3 3/4") and the saber colors are fantastic...I wish the sabers were like them...just in 1/6 scale...lol

I am on the "no battery powered lightsabers" wagon. But you all forgot one more reason to not have them.

It just gives the figures one more thing that can go wrong.

I think Sideshow would do better to sell light-up sabers seperately. They can make a pack of just sabers and then people can upgrade past figures and they would technically get more money for them.

i cant find the video where it showed greavous release date and price, but think was wrong on price and was listed 199 not 150 like i said b4 but was 2nd qtr release pretty darn sure ..dont think thats happening tho...

This is the only thing I remember seeing about price and date. Obviously the date isn't going to happen.

Yep, I think we'll be lucky to see Grievous in-hand by the end of 2012... and we all know the world is gonna end anyway so :huh
