I would think that if they were going to do it, they'd have highlighted that at the Con itself. Now I'm sure people are going to make their own heads out of the good number of Clone portraits we have already received and will receive but I seriously doubt we'd get one with this. Sideshow was pretty adamant about keeping the ANH Vader, non-helmet removable because he never removed it in that film. I would say by that standard that none of the Bobas would come with reveal portraits.

I for one would have no need for a removable helmet for Fett. Yeah its cool for the clones, but justified with the cartoon as the clones are shown with and without their helmets. Boba wasn't without his helmet in Empire or Jedi, it would kind of seem like a waste.

Forgive my lack of knowledge on the matter, but how are the removable heads attached? By a magnet? Are all the clone portraits the same size? So one could easily place any clone's portrait onto say... Boba's body and it'd turn out great? If so... which clones offer these unmasked portraits? (Trying to figure out which one would like acceptable... I doubt Boba looks like Rex lol)

They are attached via a neck peg.

All the clone heads are the same size--basically they are the same head with minimal variations in paint app (and hair sculpt).

I don't know if they are using the same body for Boba that they are using for the clones.

Argh! Ok, so I've tried, but I just can't resist it.

This figure just doesn't look right.

Here's what it should look like:

The proportions, the fit of the chest armour, the helmet shape, the costuming (particularly the sleeves), the body size, the weight and feel of the thing, all just...wrong!

I'm surprised more of you can't see how off it is. The only thing I actually like about it, is the weathering, and the base.

And here's the thing. I swear, swear to you guys, that I've been going out of my way not to mention this, as I know it just riles people for some reason. But the simple fact is that this Boba Fett, not their RotJ version, but this ESB version, is still much, much better:

I didn't even take that shot with the intention of mimicking the real on-set still, it just naturally looks like it. I only just realised that they must have used those exact on-set shots to sculpt it - look at the hands, they're in the exact same pose!

It's not perfect. The backpack sits too high. The weathering on Sideshow's is better. But overall, it's simply a much better figure.

I promise that's the first and last time I will bring up the "other" company. But I really feel it needed saying, because to me it's glaringly obvious that it's superior in every significant way.

Back to the Sideshow one - they need to re-think the whole way it hangs together. The details are there, the weathering is there, but it just isn't right. The whole essence of what makes Boba Fett so cool is missing, his stance, his build, the way the costume sits on him like he belongs in it.

Sorry to be so negative, I really want this to be the ultimate Boba Fett so that I can, you know, buy it. But it currently falls far, far short.

I daresay you're right. It may well be that the SS version takes on a whole different feel on a different body, a Truetype say.

The weathering though - kudos. That's a definite improvement.

The real helmet looks like ass. Im glad the figure has a more uniform look to it.

Ha ha! Oh that's a good one. The Sideshow helmet doesn't look right, quick - how can I justify it?

I know, I'll say the original, iconic helmet from the actual film, you know, the whole reason we all love this character, the whole reason in fact that we're even here, looks like "ass".

Brilliant.

Back on planet Earth, I think the helmet may not be an issue, as I think we've been told by the chap who did the (excellent) paint apps, that several versions have been sculpted.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't this figure a ways off in terms of release? This isn't like, say, Commander Gree, where the figure is being released in a matter of weeks, so what you see is what you get and SSC is giving feedback a polite "Thanks, we'll take that into consideration" stance? So, if that is correct, there's still time to give SSC some constructive criticism (assuming they haven't already clued in on the problems you mention). I personally think it comes down to the body they use, everything else looks fine to me. And if that's the case, it's an easy mod with some futzing - not really the end of the world.:wink1:

You are absolutely right of course.

It was just that I was reading this thread and people saying "OMG this looks amazing!" and I was all, "Huh? Are you even looking at the same photos as me?", so I felt I had to say something. Especially when there is a figure already out which in my opinion looks so much better.

On the right body it will no doubt look much improved.

I think what you're missing is that most people just aren't that backed up. It's an awesome looking figure (the detailing is beyond compare), and since the majority of us haven't gone over the entire catalog of pics with caliper and metric rule, the issues you raise don't hold a lot of water.

Lighting makes a big difference but I do agree that, height issues aside, the medicom looks more like a man in a suit.
But before the haters jump in....... The current figures like Cody are truly brilliant and again I sometimes feel like I'm liking at a real person (just smaller)

I believe a lot of it will come down to futzing.
Once in hand everybody can start experimenting with different bodies and whatnot.
I'm still not sure if I'll get this one, I'm kinda happy with my Medi ESB Fett, so I might just wait for the ROTJ version.
Still, I think it looks brilliant, and if it can be improved, even better.

I almost don't think we'll need a ROTJ Fett (at least I don't feel I'll need one). While this SSC guy is ultimately gonna bury the Medicom ESB Fett, pee on the grave, and throw away the shovel, the Medicom ROTJ Fett is pretty much spot-on...I can't think of how SSC could improve upon it? Actual working jetpack, maybe??

The only things I can think of would be the grapple line, the correct amount of tubing on his arm and a battle damaged blaster, Sarlacc repliant also couldn't hurt.

I'm an SS guy but I couldn't pass up the ROTJ Meidcom Fett , I'm very happy with it.

I do feel the SS ESB Fett will definatly be better than the Medi Version though.
