Re: 1/6th Scale Sideshow TaunTaun

Someone will be walking into a pet store with a shaver in hand... "Excuse me, may I see your rats?"

Re: 1/6th Scale Sideshow TaunTaun

Damn fine looking Wampa.. ;)

In all seriousness though it'd be sort of awesome to get a 1/6th Wampa to go with the Hoth Luke. I doubt it'll happen though.
Because Hot Toys finally made a furred Chewbacca, the odds seem good that they'll get around to making a Wampa too, because they know lots of people will have Sideshow Hoth figures already. Sideshow has laid the foundation, hopefully Hot Toys will see it that way too. I just hope it's 16" minimum in height.

It would be cool but I'm not counting on it. Hot Toys will most likely stick to the core characters I'm guessing so the Wampa would probably be the last thing they'd do. Sideshow seems to focus on a bit of everything but I don't know if they'd be ambitious enough to try something like the Wampa and even if they did I'm not sure they'd try make it have fur.

Re: 1/6th Scale Sideshow TaunTaun

I'm going to have a shot at furring the hasbro Taun (not sure I have the cajones to take a dremel to a new $400 statue) but I have a toy horse body I'd use and just glue the Hasbro head/arms/feet onto it, so wouldn't use much of the Hasbro body. Might have a shot at it when Luke Hoth is released. The SSC piece looks very nice (not crazy about the head, but still good) but I just don't like no articulation and no fur. The scales looked good on the Dewback, but the sculpted fur I don't love.

Really like the fur you used but he does look a little fat. Which fur did you use? As I mentioned, I'm trying a really thin body with just the arms/head etc glued to it.

The Hasbro Taun head is pretty decent with a good repaint.

Jeez I hate those Hasbro goggles. I wrestled them for days trying to improve them when I was doing my echo base trooper.

Re: 1/6th Scale Sideshow TaunTaun

I guy on here furred him up I think his name was andy hibbs. I have some of the fur he used left that he sent to me. he dremmeled the body down a little. but it looks good enough to me and $4oo+ cheaper as well

I actually love the Hasbro Tauntaun, it's not high-end but it's a lot of fun; Wampa, not so much, but it just occurred to me, has anyone ever shaved down the fur on the Hasbro Wampa to make it less fluffy?

Re: 1/6th Scale Sideshow TaunTaun

Ya, I know. I suck but I thought I could at least give you guys an idea of the box size.

Huge an heavy.

I went home to put it in the house. Back at work now.

Re: 1/6th Scale Sideshow TaunTaun

Sweet, can't wait to hear your impression of him and see some pics :duff

The problem with hairing the Hasbro piece is he was a but too big proportion wise to begin with, and there is not much you can dremmel off since the sculpted fur is pretty short and the rubber/plastic is not that thick. So adding fur onto it will always make it look better.

I think a similar thing would happen with the Sideshow piece, sure you could grind it down assuming it's not hollow (although sometimes they are) but man would that be a lot of work.
