Re: 1/6th Scale Sideshow TaunTaun

So here's a look at mine. This video is overexposed so I've lost some of the great detail and colour on this guy.

I am very happy with this. She looks fantastic in person and I will be picking up a second one in the future.

Very nice video; I like soft-spoken, understated reviews which allow the audience to focus on the item being reviewed and decide for themselves. My Tauntaun will be here in two days, and I can hardly wait. For my placeholder rider, I think my Aoshima die-cast T-800 Endoskeleton will do nicely. I loved your James Dean rider- do you have the Y-Wing Pilot Version?

About the neck seam:
I've already said that I might do a complete fur-job on mine, which will hide the seam. However- if I decide not to, I have plan-B: I've been a sculptor for thirty-five years; it wouldn't be difficult to add some drywall sealing compound (the stuff dries to a concrete-like hardness) and just sculpt new edges that follow the grain of the existing fur, for a much more blended look with a high-tolerance fit. Then a simple repaint on the neck and chest areas, and Robert is your parent's sibling.

The faces are killing me :lol in a good way! This came out pretty good!

Re: 1/6th Scale Sideshow TaunTaun

Fett, how much lower would you say the head of a figure on top of the Tauntaun sits compared to the Dewback?

Re: 1/6th Scale Sideshow TaunTaun

Liking the tauntaun but I love the dewback. Gotta find me one of those someday.

Re: 1/6th Scale Sideshow TaunTaun

really disappointed by that seam. I have 2 of these coming and will get them customized to permanently attach the heads and get rid of that awful line.

Re: 1/6th Scale Sideshow TaunTaun

That seam is even stupider now. All they had to do was have switch-out tusks for people who really wanted to alternate back and forth between Luke and Han's ride. :slap

Ha! I already have a place picked out on a shelf opposite the Dewback, and it will have to be displayed without its base. But with the square pegs on the feet I'm going to have to do more drilling into my shelf than I had planned. The Dewback required only one small hole to fit a peg.

Re: 1/6th Scale Sideshow TaunTaun

Not gonna mix both universes (Tatooïne and Hoth) myself. Already have the Dewback paired with the cantina. This Dewback will probably initiate the creation of a specific "cold weather" corner in the room.

Re: 1/6th Scale Sideshow TaunTaun

They're 5 feet apart, not mixed. ;) One side desert the other side ice. Custom extra large Expedit top shelves.

Re: 1/6th Scale Sideshow TaunTaun

I'm hoping under normal lighting the seam will not be as obvious... but it looks bad in a number of the photos, whereas others not as noticeable.
