Put some horns on Bowen's Wendigo and you have a makeshift young Wampa.

Re: 1/6th Scale Sideshow TaunTaun

These pics are great with all the different riders. Keep them coming

I know I pulled out my bin full of star wars figures last night to see if I had someone I could put on him. I found a Han and a couple of luke's but I haven't put them on yet.
Ended up spending a couple of hours and trying to squeeze some of them into my detolfs where my Star Wars stuff is.

Its amazing how different the seam looks. Some piccs don't show it at all, but the Boba Fett pic looks very noticeable.

It's more difficult to see when it's blown out by the camera flash, which gets rid of any shadow detail. That's not how it will look in person.

Re: 1/6th Scale Sideshow TaunTaun

All those photos are great!

In fact, they are so great that I thought, "what the hell. Maybe I'll get it anyway and figure out where to display it later".

Then I went to the Sideshow site and I had forgotten it was $350--I thought it was $300. Hmm. Not what I expected but ok. And then I saw the shipping is $43! I know it's a huge piece, but damn. A total of $393, or even $373 with a coupon, is just a little too rich for my blood. :(

I'll rethink getting it if it's still around after I've gotten Hoth Han, the HT Han and Chewie set, the Scoutie and TOD Indy.

Yep... same boat. If I can get it for under $300 I'd do it but unfortunately, these bigger SW pieces don't go for cheap very often - they just hold and then sell out.:lol

Re: 1/6th Scale Sideshow TaunTaun

Really like the two face sculpts on this one, and was all for it to come out great, but i can't look past where the head attaches to the body (seam)
It really affects the appearance, and detracts from the dramatic presence this statue should of had. For you guys that have him, enjoy, but personally i wish ssc developed an alternative way to provide different portraits. Or at the very least, overlap the sculpted hair on it's head to conceal most of the seam

At first I tried to put my die-cast Aoshima Endoskeleton in the saddle, but its hip joints wouldn't quite make it. Thanks for the rep, King!

yep. the flash makes the seam disappear, but it is definately there.

$300 then around $340 with shipping I could swing. I hope it sticks around for a while and perhaps go on sale. Truth is I have too much on order already that take precedence. It's been a while since I was this booked up! Really if it wasn't for HT entering the SW game I would most likely be pretty much done.

And damn! That replica prop puppet looks awesome! I always kinda liked the look of the tauntaun's face on the puppet.

Re: 1/6th Scale Sideshow TaunTaun

I woke up this afternoon and there was a surprise waiting for me on my front step!
My Taun Taun showed up!
He is massive!
I had a little trouble putting all his packs on him, those hooks are way too small.
He looks amazing!
I was going to pose him in the 7 feet of snow outside but I don't want to risk it.
The seam isn't noticeable in hand.

Re: 1/6th Scale Sideshow TaunTaun

Hasbro wouldn't DARE do that much research. Their tauntaun was gray with a lighter underbelly- which would reflect the life-size prop. I really like the Cowen & Davidson replica; it's extremely close to the original seen below, although they did make the horns too thick. Tippett's horns are thinner and pointier.

Oh good I never realized until now that due to being able to interchange not only the heads but the tusks as well we aren't forced to have Luke's tauntaun (broken tusk) be the surprised derpy head.

Awesome photos Fett73, Fremen & Pizza. Pizza I love how you've used the reins to disguise the seam.

Mad the price does stop you in your tracks, doesn't it. Shipping to New Zealand
was a massive $122. Thank the Maker for all those free reward points at Spooktacular.

Yeah, these collectibles are much friendlier if shipping w/in the US :lol

I got my Tauntaun today, and I'm surprised- the neck seam is much less of a problem than I expected. The digital photos really accentuate it, but seen in ordinary lighting conditions the seam is subtle enough. I love this piece.

Good to know, you seem more particular than most, so if it's not a big deal to you I think I'll be happy with him.

Wow, that's incredible... the talent in the collector community never ceases to amaze.
