Hehe No... that’s not gonna do. I’ll have to see if I’ll eventually find the sideshow one.

Does anyone know of an alternative to this one? Like a 1/6 model kit? Saw one googling it, but don’t know if the scale is correct, how it looks assembled or where to get it... it just seems like it’s really hard to er one for a descent price now a days.

I've been steadily doing an extreme makeover of the hasbro one and I'm pretty happy with it so far, but it's obviously a ton of work (resculpting head and body and adding screen accurate feet.) The Tauntaun was such a biggie for me, so I don't mind all the work.

I passed on the SSC version and have no regrets. Just didn't like the sculpt (fur especially, but also the feet, head and other aspects), the weight, or that it was a static polystone statue with an affixed base with no other pose options. Functionally, I was pretty upset that they didn't go with something more along the lines of their 1/6 Jabba with possibility of limited articulation.

All this being said, my advice would be to use the "suggest a product" link at Sideshow (or just call customer support.) I would definitely not be surprised if they reissued it and the more inquiries they get the better.

Thanks Talibane!! I’ve been thinking about modding the Hasbro too. But I just really like the sideshow one a lot. I kind of like that it’s a statue - display vice. Not sure why I like it so much. I really like the Dewback too. So I should probably just wait and see if I can find it for a decent price. If they do eventually reissue it it’ll probably have a price jump anyways.

That sucks! Hopefully you paid via goods & services on PayPal so you can get your money back?

I really want one of these (and a dewback for that matter), but can only hope for a rerelease.

Yeah, there have been a lot of scammers with HT and Sideshow products on eBay lately. Besides the obvious 0 feedbacks the best tip-off I've seen is do searches for similar items to see duplicate pics and small # of auctions.

It was a seller from here though, so I trusted the him... but digging in his history here I see it might not be the first time he’s scammed people. Last thing I heard was that the package was shipped and he would send me a tracking number. Never happened and there’s been complete radio silence for a week now. Not responding at all... still a chance he really did ship, but looking at his history here I’m starting to really doubt it [emoji22]

That’s awful. Part of the appeal for buying and selling here is the community of collectors. By the collectors for the collectors. Seems like you have to vet everybody these days.

Yes... I’ll have to see if that package should actually turn up one of these days. But I highly doubt it will. If not it was all a scam to begin with and I’ll warn people about dealing with him.

Hi everybody.

I have finally got hold of this Sideshow tauntaun. Huge box btw, much more than I expected...

My question: any tips and tricks, common issues and fixes, best practices and pieces of advice, and/or recommended customizations, that you senior owners might like to summarize for us newcomers, after 7 long years of thread activity?

Particularly, and after reading some reviews, I have some questions:

1) Any problems with eyes being crossed, not straight?

2) Are you guys satisfied with the look of the accessories attached on the tauntaun? Not much snow on them right?

3) Is the pleather on this guy holding up well for you people? Any (as Vader would put it) disintegration yet?

4) BTW has anybody come up with any cool idea how to hide the annoying neck seam? There is of course the simple fix of laying some added strap on top of it and going screen-inaccurate, but I wonder if there has been some bright idea topping that...

I’ll report him when I can be absolutely sure he’s a scammer. But I see now that he hasn’t been active here for a few months. He has sold stuff on here before in the past, but apparently cheated a few people. Maybe now, not being active here anymore, he has gone full villain. I’ll find out very soon.
He applied to my search for a tauntaun, he doesn’t have any sales threads up at the moment... but at least, if he’s a scammer, he should be banned so he won’t do it again to somebody else.
He asked for the full amount as gift, but I wasn’t that naive. Unfortunately though (I thought I was smart) paying the shipping and $50 as gift... I kick myself for doing that, but he really seemed genuine. So hopefully I’ll get most of it back from PayPal, but not the $141 I paid him as gift...
Edit: I see that he locked in yesterday. So now I’m pretty sure he’s ignoring me.

Yes, I just wrote him another angry email, but pretty sure he won’t respond...
But I already opened a case yesterday with paypal to make him respond - before he went on the forum, so I know he must have seen it. Nothing yet. But I’ll let PayPal know everything if he doesn’t ship, and if it’s not his first time, I suspect he’ll be banned from having a PayPal account.

Please inform the moderators if you havent already. We have had a couple people create new IDs to scam others in years past. Sorry that happened to you. Hopefully you'll be compensated.
