At the rate we are going, in a year from today we may have 2 more figures announced and one shipping soon. I figure about 3 to 4 figures a year from this line. Which is actually perfectly fine with me.

My fear is by the time we are able to complete the Fellowship, I may not even care anymore.

I have the same fear. I dont want to be here 5 years from now still waiting to finish the Fellowship.

I couldn't agree more. Sure. I can see it being important to space out releasing major characters to maintain interest in the line; However, the Fellowship is of supreme importance. Sideshow shouldn't space them out so far that many collectors lose interest. It would suck for the line to die before we get the whole Fellowship. I want those nine badly. My fears would be greatly eased with the announcement of a Hobbit sized body.

Back on track...

I can't wait for Aragorn:D

My camara is crappy but I may try to snap some pics when I get him. By no means will I be near the first though.

Of, course someone may have to school me in where and how to upload the pics (oh, the shame), or point me in the right direction.

Sideshow should have learned that lesson from the Buffy line. They spaced out releasing the main characters to the point that many collectors lost interest and that line is now on life support.

And whether its based on those crappy pictures or not, a lot of people have cancelled their Aragorn already. I'm certain part of that is due to the slow pace of the line, hindering any momentum of excitement, which in turn allows people to choose to spend their money on Star Wars.

So we have trouble from both sides -- a deadly slow line coupled with the rumblings of cancellations.

I hope this Aragorn figure will be... the turning of the tides.

Photobucket is a pretty easy site to use for photo hosting and its free :D

That rate suits me fine. I predict Gandalf the Grey announced in the 1st Q and Gandalf the White as the SDCC exclusive. You heard it here first!

Or maybe not. :monkey1
Gandalf the White will have to be a whole new figure. I can see an Amon Hen Aragorn though. Just needs a long sleeve, blue undershirt, elven knife, Lothlorien cloak :)chew), and even Boromir's arm braces. I think that's it.

BINGO!! Pics of Aragorn have already dampened many spirits regarding the line. Further delay on news regarding "hobbit/dwarf" bodies will only hurt this line further. Not getting the Fellowship Nine in a reasonable time-table will be the kiss of death to this line.

So, you're saying my powers to see into the future don't work? :lol

i agree with you, i fear this line is gonna die. with such a slow pace, and the early aragon pics not showing good results, i think a lot of people are gonna cancel their orders and concentrate on another line. however, if SS announces... say Gandolf and release a kickass Legolas the line will be revised.

The "expression" is *meh*. But I imagine it would be much better with a little touch up. The coat is the real buzz-kill for me. Though it looks pretty pliable and could be easily re-weathered. Really I'm not one to mind doing a little extra mods to my figure to further enhance them. Customizing and personalizing make the hobby much more fun to me. I'm anxious to see how Legolas turns out, but I think Strider might be it for me as far as this line goes, with the exception of Gandalf the Grey.

In the plus column I think his accessories are great! particularly the bow. So there a lot of posing options.

I foresee Legolas and Boromir to be pretty much spot on to their respective prototypes. Then you have to figure that GTG, GTW, Saruman, the Witch King, and Ringwraiths will be pretty "easy" to get right. That leaves the hobbits and Gimli as real question marks.

There's no way I could write this line off yet. Just too much potential.

If Legolas DOES become next in line, you forget that the biggest beef on him is his face and his chicken legs. As it is, his ability to appease displeased Strider collectors is not boding well. As for Boromir, as long as they don't botch his costume with cheap looking vinyl-looking material, he may be the saving factor.

Look at the Legolas from this Toybiz rotocast and tell me his legs look better?

And let's not forget the face of the Aragorn from the Toybiz Rotocast as well:

The good news is there's no 12" Boromir yet, so this SS line will not die yet. Also the fact that they're coming out with a Faramir 12" will be good too.

Yikes! Another poor review and even poorer pictures -- is that possible?
 what is going on here?
People don't know how to use a camera?

One thing I just realized was that if you want to display the entire "Fellowship" none of them should be wearing elven cloaks. For some reason I had mistakenly thought that at one point none of them had cloaks, then after visiting Galadriel they all did. It finally sunk in that if you want to display Gandalf the Grey with them and have it film accurate then they shouldn't have the cloaks.

It'd be nice to have a more "complete" FOTR Aragorn like the Legolas and Boromir figures but at least he'll fit in nicely with a proper Fellowship display.

The more I hear & see the more I get worried about Mondays delivery. I will wait and see him in hand to judge, but he may be for sale here soon. The jacket just looks SOOOOO bad! And he looks so bulky.

It really seems the two biggest gripes are the newness of the coat and the piant apps. I will have to agree that so far (at least in pictures) I'm having a hard time seeing Aragorn. But, the same was true for Han, but once I hand I reall like him and think the likeness is bang-on.

So we'll see... now if I could just get my f'n shipping notice!

I'm probably wrong but I would almost swear that the production headsculpt and the one shown at SDCC are two different sculpts. The paint apps alone just can't be the reason for such a significant difference in looks.

In the pics in that new review, he's got that "deer caught in the headlights" look that make the eye sculpts look different. Even more obvious is the thinness of the headsculpt in the SDCC pic and the more rounder headsculpt found in the production piece.

I'll know for certain on Tuesday.
