That's really an apples and oranges comparison. The Gandalf Bust is a work of art. A sculpture. The 12" line, as well-done as they may be, are still action figures. And action figures will never be anywhere near as valuable to me as a statue or bust will be.

That's interesting, as I have the opposite attitude. I don't find statues or busts very compelling because they're kind of old-hat and are usually fragile... a nicely done 12" figure is much more difficult to pull off, because it takes an excellent likeness sculpt and the design and tailoring of the clothing AND it still has to be posable.

I'll only buy a statue if I think that it will never be made in 1:6 action figure form and if it doesn't have too much cloth on its outfit. (I'll probably pick up the Sideshow/WETA Sauron for this reason.)

Toys > "collectibles".

WOW! Hobbits already! Can't wait to see them better! Sam and Frodo I'm guessing. The big question, two pack or seperate.

Perhaps the Star Wars Two pack will be Jawas, or Luke and Yoda?

Never had the idea that SSC is a charity. Were or when exactly did I wrote that? It's ok to make a living. Besides, I'm not complaining about a price I don't know yet. Just about people telling SSC it's ok to charge what ever they want, because they'll pay the price.

I was looking at that silhouette and thinking - wow, that's obviously Sam and other profile definitely looks like Frodo! But wouldn't Frodo have the small pack and Sam the big pack? Doesn't the one in the lead look a lot like Sam?

Well, I edited it to say 12" SCALE Hobbit Figures, but it doesn't look like that will carry over. But hopefully people will know what I was thinking. I was mostly just wanting to point people to the other thread in case the hat eating topic didn't interest them at first glance.

I'm very excited about this... just rewatched the movies last week and could not stop thinking of how badly I want to weather up a "Crack of Doom" Frodo and Sam set.... Awesome news!
