I think I finally put my finger on why I don't really like the sculpt. It's too wide. Here is a picture for comparison. If Sideshow could just find a way to squeeze the head a little, it would look better.

I know some will say that it's bad paint, but I'm not sure I believe that.

Didn't see that before, that's an EXCELLENT point and might very well be why it looks "off"...he does look a little "puffy"...but once again, this could also be attributed to the photos, lighting and the paint-job. Sideshow's paint is ALWAYS very thick, even on some of their prototypes.

However, you could very well be right the head sculpt is "wider" than it should be. The raw sculpt looks fantastic but it may very well be wider.

Note here on the PF that the head does indeed look "narrower" and more chiseled much like Ford. Trevor did say after the 12'' Indy that he still had some things he wanted to focus on for his next Ford sculpt. He clearly surpassed the 12'' sculpt with his AMAZING PF!

I don't see the "puffiness" in the sculpt at all. Never did. All I see is a chintzy paint job.

Same here. The sculpt is fine. It's the beard paint that creates and illusion of wider cheeks. Just like my Joker paint leads one to believe that there are creases in the forehead or under the eyes when in fact, there are not.

The raw sculpt is amazing, and once any of the painters of this board get our hands on it... it will be restored to it's former greatness... I assure you. :D

Quick Photoshop edit...narrowed the head slightly and added more of a tan. I think it helps a lot. But you can at least see how the color change brings out more of the details of the sculpt beneath. The shadows are brought out more along the shape of it.

Getting pretty good at making 1:6 crates now, actually. In fact, I might be so inclined to make some for others if they're interested once the Sideshow Indy's start arriving.

Awesome!:peace

Any pics of a crate finished?.. Or were they already posted and I missed them?

For me, a $90.00 figure should not have to be repainted. That's my personal opinion on it.

There is no such thing as a figure that has to be repainted, it's all a matter of owner's tastes whether the paint is acceptible to them or not, but it's never a necessity.

I do think at certain prices, the quality should be higher, and could very well be, but could still seem to need to be redone to meet the liking of the owner.

I have been watching the newly released DVDs tonight and they are really making me Jones for this figure! I am also looking forward to some others like the Nazi dude that burned the head piece to the staff of Ra into his hand and the big bruiser the was bating on Indy until the airplane prop finished him off.

I'm going to sound a bit like Irish now, WHERE'S INDY??

Hehe, sorry, I shouldn't have bought the movies, then my interest to get him would be restrained, but now I'm on a big Indy kick and I'm excited to get a really nice Indy figure and have fun with it.

That warms my heart. I can't believe the franchise ever got quiet when the movies are good enough to create a huge fan in ONE WEEK!

The only reason that the franchise got "quiet" is because it was neglected by Luca$film.

INDY is every bit as good an important as SW... and I say even moreso due to the involvement of Spielberg.
