Just picked mine up from Corner Store Comics' corner store and after fiddling with him I now realize I have to be a lot more careful with 12 inch figures, with Indy being my first one. I broke a piece of his revolver and the little leather strap on is belt...I love the figure but pretty bummed about that one.

And the only noticeably loose joint on mine is his neck, which loves to headbang.

Whew!
I just got him and I actually expected to be disappointed. All the negativity here tends to beat you down when you have to read it all. And I had some misgivings myself from the pics - the portrait didn't look dead on to me, the head seemed a bit big, etc.

Now I haven't been cosplaying Indy for 20 years, so I can't speak as to the accuracy of the outfit - I did see Raiders of the Lost Ark 12 times in the theatre the year it was released though. So in my own way, I consider myself an Indy expert.

At the risk of being called an Apologist, I have to say that the little kid that loved Raiders in the theatre thinks this is a fan-^^^^ing-tastic figure!

Any and all my misgivings about the head was completely unjustified. The head is a perfect size - more so than most SSC heads, which tend to run large. The portrait is definitely the best H. Ford we've ever gotten. Just the details on the shirt (okay, maybe they're wrong, I don't know) - the tiny buttons, the sewn on stripe, the little pockets - all great. I had a bit of a problem with the collar. It was up and I had a hard time adjusting it because the cloth is thin - probably the best scale cloth we've seen on a figure in a long time.

The fine belts and straps are excellent scale too - although seem kind of fragile. And a magnet on the whip holder - easy to use, unlike a lot of connectors we've seen on other figures in the past. The straps on the jacket seem wrong to me, like they should be leather not webbing, but perhaps I'm wrong about that.

Also the extra hat - it has an interior hat band and a silk lining! Talk about attention to detail. So much other stuff too - the idol - wish it was metal, but it looks good - no seams and a nice gold finish. The sandbag, all the hands, 2 guns (the chamber opens on the revolver and the bullets are painted!), a whip that will hold a pose! The holster seems like it should be lighter in color, that's a bit bothersome.

And the body - do the joints move easier than other 1/6 bodies? Yep. Does it move in more directions than most 1/6 bodies? Yep. Could this be perceived as being looser than other 1/6 bodies? Yep. But there's not a pose that it can't hold. The legs even click in place for added strength. The hips seem a bit more swivelly than they should be, but he can stand without the stand with no problem. As I've pointed out in other threads, body looseness is a piece-to-piece thing and perhaps I just got a good one. But the fluidity of the movement of the body that is unlike most other 1/6 bodies makes me think that's it's only the perception of floppiness and not actual floppiness that may be causing the comments.

Anyway - I'm not going to change the minds of the haters, but if you're on the fence about cancelling because you're worried about some of the more negative comments - don't. If you ordered from SSC, they have a no fault return policy - if you really don't think it's the be all and end all of Indy when you get it - return it.

Good to hear, Dave! Mine was supposed to arrive today, but was delayed until Monday. :(

I never got all the complaints about the "large head", either. I've been much more concerned about the reports of seriously loose bodies... but it sounds like that might not quite be an epidemic, which is comforting.

I'm sure it won't be a PERFECT 1/6 Indy figure. But at the end of the day, it'll be the best one out there and I'll be more than happy to have it (and two more for customizing purposes).

Can't wait for Monday! :rock

Does the dart not fit into the torch for anyone else? Its like the torche's slot wasn't made big enough for the dart to fit into.

I got the exclusive Indy with the torch and dart. The dart for my torch barely fits into the small slot at the top of the torch, but it does fit. The dart is very small, so you gotta be careful not to lose it. I like the torch, but I wish it had some burning ashes at the top of it, or some paint on it showing heat. To me it looks like an unlit torch. I would have included the headpiece to the staff of Ra with Indy, but I have a feeling they'll either include with the recently announced Toht, or hopefully...Marion Ravenwood. :D

It would have been nice if the hat with the lining would fit the bare head. Was this on purpose or was it an engineering oversight?

SSC wanted to use Trev's original portrait sculpt with hair that looks like it should when Indy isn't wearing a hat, but to properly scale a hat to Indy's head, they found the only way was to sculpt a hat on one head and include a second head with no hat and include a loose hat that was in the same scale as the one on the head for doing poses where he's holding it. They never intended to make the hat wearable. SSC's very smart in this area, if they feel they can't do a wearable hat or helmet without sacrificing the look of the portrait they won't. Belloq and Toht have loose hats bacauce theire hair and heads can be done such that they look fine with or without the hat on.

As much as I hate to do it, it actually makes me physically ill, I have to agree with Dave on pretty much everything here. :lecture

Although I have no idea what you are talking about "The legs even click in place for added strength"
