Man, I had Aragorn, Legolas, Boromir, Frodo and Sam! I ended up selling all of them to help me buy other figures I really wanted like Indiana Jones. :monkey2 I really hated selling them. I hope to get them again someday. I also hope and pray that Sideshow continues the LOTR 1:6 scale line. We need Merry and Pippin! An Eowyn, Galadriel, Arwen, even a Bilbo, Gimli...even a Smeagol! Ahhh heck Sideshow...we want them all. At least I do! :D

This line is deader than Lurtz after getting decapitated :aragorn

This line is as dead as Frodo after geing stung by Shelob... :monkey3

this line is deader than faramir's friend when he gets stabbed with a spear by gothmog and lets out that death gargle sound.

looks like i'm late in the game on this line. which i KINDA want to start collecting.
but, it sure looks like i can't get a complete fellowship OR any of the villains... so, there isn't much point, is there?

also, who's idea was it to make Faramir, but not Gimli? is the guy who makes those decisions on here?
i can't wrap my head around the thought process that would lead to that kind of decision. wtf happened?

My guess is that at the time Faramir was announced, the line was planned to continue...and eventually we would get a Gimli. Since his body is 'unique' (not as short as a hobbit, not as tall as a man, rounder than both), it would require a whole new, 'exclusive-to-him' sculpt. Not to mention the R&D to go into making his costume. Would mean he wasn't as easy to pull off then as say, Faramir.

Here's hoping we'll at least get a PF of Gimli! I'd get him to go with Aragorn. :rock

I think SS released Faramir because there was no Faramir whatsoever in the Sideshow Weta line. I for one was really happy about the 12" Faramir and the only LOTR 12ers I bought were Faramir and Strider (because at the time I thought I'd never buy the Strider Weta statue for $800. Guess I was wrong. :)

I think you've got it exactly right. I remember people saying that Faramir was a good sign in that it meant that Sideshow wasn't just going to be doing the fellowship (everyone assumed that would be done) but would also be branching out into more peripheral characters. But I think Sideshow underestimated the effect that the choice (combined with mounting delays and the disastrous paint) would have on people's enthusiasm.

It would be criminal not to get a Gimli PF. CRIMINAL! They wouldn't be facing any of the challenges that they had with the 1/6 scale figures, like getting a properly scaled articulated body, or how to do his armor, etc. They've already done similar things on the other PFs. They just have to do it for Gimli. I'd buy it in a second. The likeness probably wouldn't even be that big of an issue, given that most of his face is covered by his beard.

About as criminal as say, producing a 1:6 line and only completing 2/3 of the Fellowship before bailing? :huh

72.4% of the decision behind Faramir was that Weta had ignored him and he's a fan favorite. Also with a (supposedly) continuing line - you don't just release the fellowship up front.
