What about when a man entered a day care with a knife and started stabbing workers and the children. Does that raise awareness of knife control?

You can go into Wal Mart and grab a cutlery set right off a shelf in an aisle and start stabbing people. Heck, you could walk over to sporting goods and grab a baseball bat and just cave a random strangers head in.

Almost anything can be deadly in the wrong persons hands.
Exactly or what about this one.

Apparently they played a trailer for Gangster Squad before TDKR that featured the cast shooting up a movie theatre full of people with machine guns. That trailer has now been pulled from all screenings. Eerie.

Love the sarcasm, and it's quite the truth. Criminals will find ways to circumvent applicable gun laws and obtain firearms illegally, even through the black market.

see that's what i was talking about
i really dont know why Pixle quoted me with this smiley :nana:
must be drugs or something :dunno

As Solidus correctly pointed out, I was being sarcastic. So yes, I was agreeing with you. Hence the ":nana:".

Re: 14 shot dead at movie theater

It worked so well with prohibition and is working so well with the drug war. :nana:

Exactly what I think when someone is so naive and simplistic that they think tighter gun laws will stop criminals from getting guns, cause no one has pot, coke, or any type of illegal drugs in America.

I won't talk gun control... because my views on that will clash with a lot of people here and I don't want to anger anyone.

But I will just say that this is a senseless tragedy, and it's horrible to think that some guy decided to shoot up a theater full of innocent people. I hate that it taints this film, and that so many people are using it as a means to criticize film and game violence.

I just feel sorry for all of the people who just wanted to enjoy a film, but got put in this horrible situation. They didn't deserve this. Nobody deserves this.

I think we should stop speculating on if he was motivated by his love of a film or character, and just wait until we have more verifiable information before jumping to conclusions.

So this coward guy really thinks HE IS THE JOKER :cuckoo:

Colorado movie theater shooter James Holmes was sporting red hair and told people he was "The Joker" when he was apprehended by police Friday morning ... this according to NY Police Commissioner Ray Kelly.

During a news conference this afternoon, Kelly said, "We have some information, most of it is public. It clearly looks like a deranged individual. He had his hair painted red, he said he was ‘The Joker,’ obviously the enemy of Batman."

ABC News is reporting Holmes made the Joker remark to police, not during the shooting.

It's likely Kelly obtained the information from Aurora Police Chief Dan Oates -- according to reports, the two are good friends. In fact, Oates was a member of the NYPD for 21 years.

Holmes may have been trying to recreate a scene from the 2008 movie, "The Dark Knight" ... which features a scene where The Joker, played by Heath Ledger, wears a red wig while destroying a hospital.

This is the price we pay for living in a free society. We shouldn't be surprised when a tradedgy like this occurs. When it's easier to get a gun than a drivers license in most states this is the outcome. I'm not going to start a gun control debate here but simple statistics show that the more guns there are and the easier they are to get the more incidents you will have. If you go swimming in the ocean and there's only one shark, your odds of being eaten are slim. But if you swim in the same ocean with a millions sharks your chances go up.

I shudder at the thought if other people had started shooting to try and bring this guy down. Some middle aged guy with bad vision who only has shot non moving paper targets is going to shoot an armed man 50 yards away in the dark with gas all around? Seriously? He's destined to hit an innocent person.

We are a violent country. We want more blood and gore in our movies. We want graphic first person shooters with realism. We want football with hard hits and we root for people to get injured and don't want any rules to make the game safer. We watch NASCAR to see a wreck. We root for pitchers to hit a guy in the head. I'm not blaming us or defending us, but this is the country we have become. When someone doesn't like a movie review they threaten a life..

Some day when we're all dead someone will figure this out and they'll look back on our generation with shock.

This chick on Fox right now has been on there off and on since it happened and every time she talks, her story gets longer and longer.

I had to turn off the TV, this crap is making me sick.

Well said. :lecture

Really hope this ends up being speculative BS and not really another Joker copycat.

I don't think i can see this now.. probably not for a long time actually. Thinking about cancelling my PO's. Batman has been ruined. No way i can watch this and not think of those people.

I'm in the gray area.

Guns don't kill people, people kill people, but guns sure make it a lot easier for someone to kill 12 people in a span of 2 minutes than a knife or crowbar would.

That said, its impractical to think that if guns were banned that only the good guys would have them.

Bad guys work harder to go around the laws or work harder to obtain the "unobtainable" weapon.

It's a ____ed up society with ____ed up means to ____ innocent people up for no ____ing reason.

What I wish I understood was why people want to ____ with strangers. Or why people want to kill their wives or babies before taking their own life.

If you don't give a ____ about your own life, just ____ing do it. Don't drag people in.

There was fatal shooting at a mall here in Toronto a few weeks ago. A girl that was present and escaped that shooting died at the Colorado shooting.

Ugh, that is too creepy. Like something right out of final destination. That poor girl.
