I can be a law-abiding citizen and go to a gun shop, pay $600+ for a pistol, show my ID and wait 14 days for a background check to clear, or, go the illegal route and head down to the shady part of town, pay a measly $200 and have a pistol in less than an hour. Not only is it faster, but it's cheaper. That's how effective gun control is. That's not NRA propaganda, that's fact.

Look, no, that's not NRA propaganda. That's the NRA's doing.

Although, then it is used as NRA rhetoric. So, it is kinda propaganda at that. The NRA pays off politicians to put those loopholes into place and then not only profits from the loopholes, they use its futility as example for why people shouldn't even try to go against the NRA and their agenda.

:lol And how is that? Do they drive big trucks full of guns into known gang neighborhoods and just kick them off the beds into the backyards? You're huffing poop if you think the NRA's involved. Every time there's an illegal firearm used in the united states for a violent crime, it hurts the NRA's agenda. So why would they be responsible for it.

However, the irony is Fast and Furious, supported/created by Obama's administration (which is anti NRA) is directly responsible for putting firearms into the hands of Central American Cartels and causing the deaths of 200+ Mexicans, Federals and a US Border Patrol Agent. Use your brain and actually think before you post dribble like that. :huh

Whoa. Wait. I thought we were having a discussion here. If you're just going to start regurgitating Tea Party Republican talking points I am so out of here. Boring! Parting note: I WISH Obama was anti-NRA. He's anti-NRA the same way Jefferson was anti-slavery.

Tea Party BS? So you think it's all manufactured, despite the fact that Congress held Attorney General Holder in contempt for not providing all the documents requested of him (the ones that may incriminate Obama) regarding Fast and Furious? That's all manufactured? CNN is lying? MSNBC is lying?

You stated the NRA was responsible for illegal gun trafficking, yet provided zero evidence toward your claim, despite the very fact that common sense should tell you violent crime involving firearms hurts any agenda the NRA would have.

So you run from the argument making outlandish accusations because you made a claim you know you can't back up. I see. Typical. :wave :lol

After reading your post in this thread I seriously think you dislike the US.

Does csi hate Canada?... I wonder if you look at conversations in context or just pick and choose what you want to see.

If a complete stranger were to read Darths post in this thread they would think he hates the US.

I don't really care what complete strangers think.

The slide stock makes it seem like a full auto. Still only fires one bullet per pull of the trigger. He didn't even need to by the trigger assembly. Anything you buy that changes a semi to an actual full you need to have the proper license for.

please enlighten me on how these are so very different from full auto

Forget gun control. We need to shut up the NRA. They are so focused on propaganda, marketing and their lobbying efforts that no one can discuss gun rights openly. Any attempt devolves into the same sort of "discussion" fans of rival sports teams have. It should be something we can find common ground on. But thanks to the NRA there's too much garbage out there.

Nice, trample people's rights to bear arms and freedom of speech. True American there. Are there any of the Bill of Rights you do agree with?

The NRA is a lobbying group. I don't like lobbying groups. Like triple A. We would have much better mass transit and zoning on the West coast if it wasn't for them. The NRAs only job is to sell more guns. That's their one and only goal. Everything that the say, every move they make is to those ends. And they pursue their agenda with complete amorality. They are very good at spreading lies and fostering paranoia. And they are so good at it and have such a foot hold that no one can breathe a word that might impact their bosses' ability to make money.

But your characterization of liberals is waaaaay off base. My family owns guns and we are liberals. I've spent some time in the shooting range and it's a good time. We, and all the other liberals I know, have no desire to strip away all the guns from their owners. That impression is what I'm taking about. That's an NRA tactic. Everyone who doesn't agree with the NRA's every point is out to get your guns. That's what they would have you believe. But it's not the truth and it prevents honest discourse. There is no plot, no agenda to get rid of gun rights.

Some of the points you bring up are important and valid. Legislators can be doing more, if we let them and if they stop posturing. But we have to be able to work together.

But I don't think all the points in your statement are acurate. I think you've been fed falsehoods. While the NRA is all about brainwashing as necessary, I don't think our legislators and police are out to attack our fundamental freedoms or hobbies. I know that there is a percentage of Americans who disagree with my statement. And I think the NRA is solely responsible for that.

speaking of paranoia and people who have been brainwashed, I think you have been watching way to much MSNBC. I'm guessing your get your opinions directly from people like Bill Maher, Pierce Morgan, Keither Oberman, etc right :cuckoo:

Typical lefty, spew your lame propaganda and conspiracy theories and when real facts and actual debate rears its ugly head you run for the hills.

Why yes he does :nana:

but only because you stole my hockey team :gah:

I'd hardly call that actually losing anything... :wink1:

Are you old enough to remember the Atlanta Flames?

I have only lived in this area for the last 10 years, so they are before my time. The Thrashers may not have been a great team, but I really enjoyed going to the games. What really saddens me is my daughter is now 3 and I would have loved to take her to a game, but that is not likely to ever happen now.

You'd be wrong. There are posts by members in this thread that prove all my points, from former law enforcement to brainwashed idiots who think stringent gun control has even the smallest effect on criminals gaining access to firearms. The example I stated before was a highly accurate one. I can be a law-abiding citizen and go to a gun shop, pay $600+ for a pistol, show my ID and wait 14 days for a background check to clear, or, go the illegal route and head down to the shady part of town, pay a measly $200 and have a pistol in less than an hour. With a bit more cash and probably a day's wait, I can have a fully automatic, banned assault rifle. Not only is it faster, but it's cheaper. That's how effective gun control is. That's not NRA propaganda, that's fact. Gun control hasn't and really doesn't, deal with the issues of illegal gun trafficking and sales. Instead, it's easier and "safer" to set up a false danger and brainwash the weak-minded into believing that it's better that law abiding citizens have a harder time trying to acquire firearms.

:lecture Yes sir.

Not sure. I can't find a pic of it. It's not big, a .25

Colt .25?:
KucerColt25.jpg

And 6 years isn't that far back. :lol

I love that if you criticize our gun laws and the purpose of the second amendment... you are AGAINST America!

I'm a Democratic Socialist, who believes in free healthcare for everyone, tightened gun laws, social welfare programs, and a severely cut national defense budget... I MUST be someone who HATES America. But then again, I served my country for four years in the Navy... including during two wars that I did not agree with.

I think DarthNeil and gdb are making some very valid points.. :lecture

Not that small! Wow, that's a tiny thing! :lol

I didn't know, that's why I looked it up! I think you can go through every administration and find absolutely stupid ideas such as this. You have to wonder who comes up with this ____.

Oh, and I'm an equal opportunity hater. I sit on the fence and flip off both sides at times. :D

And lobbiest need to go!

I don't recall saying anybody hates America. :cuckoo: That's the kneejerk hissyfitting by those who don't like having their biased opinions challenged by common sense.

My whole point is asking the trolls who post, "this is why we need more gun control" what exactly gun control has done to address the issues of black market trafficking? What has it done to keep guns out of the hands of criminals? How does making it more difficult for non-criminals to purchase them accomplish this? And so far, all I've seen is mindless dribble up to and including calling me a Tea Party member despite the fact that I'm an independent. :lol
